  • Aside from the most excellent EH/Currys money saving, today's mse things:

A couple of surveys, had a few since signing up for the new site which haven't chucked me out after getting loads of information (yes, I am talking about your repeated shoddy behaviour Curious Cat) so that's encouraging

An Olio pastry for breakfast, and a couple of Olio loaves in the freezer

Renewed an old Gumtree advert so it included the hashtag for their current competition to win £500

Found 1p and four McDonald's monopoly tokens. I have Fenchurch Street Stations coming out of my ears!

Researched mystery dining and mystery shopping. I don't think they'd be worth it for me as I'd have to pay to get to the places but I'm glad I bothered looking into it

Do any readers participate in Swagbucks? Is it worth it with the MSE sign up code or is it a pain in the proverbial to reach the necessary amount soon enough? I'm not one for online game thingummies so that wouldn't be a realistic option to get points for me

I'm clearly a Luddite with fly swatters, as mine is just a plastic thing with which to whack 'em!

  • You've obviously got a more brutal whack than me @foxgloves I think flies here would tell all their mates about this fun game!
  • Mr PIP and I have been out for drinks with a couple of my good old pals from the neighbourhood, in this neighbourhood (north London with ideas well above its station) so not very money saving but very, very lovely to see them and also to feel homely with friends
We didn't think it'd turn into an entire evening session so late night dinner had to be bought, but at least we got chips from the very not posh place rather than ordering in a pizza. The takeaway chips were delicious 😁

Got paid 12.25 from a survey provider so thats gone into the flat pot

Got paid for a job and remembered to put money into the tax pot!

Picked up some Olio shower gel, no point it going to waste and me paying if there's free stuff to use

Found three McDonald's Monopoly tokens on the street, all ones I hadn't got

    Another survey from new provider

Had a client call so that'll be some little future money

Put a few items on V!nted

Chased up a client for the third time about two jobs I'm owed for from over two months ago. I'm assured they'll be paid next week

Put new batteries in the zappy fly racket and that worked! Yes, I do feel like an idiot but in my defence the light indicated it should be working! Thanks @badmemory 😁

At least you didn't do what I did & gave my finger a shock.  It was very mild but would have been more sensible not to.
  • I was very tempted to test if it was working with my finger @badmemory 😂
  • A doing laundry and bits and bobs day today

Went for a little walk and found three McDonald's Monopoly tokens. I hate littering with a passion, but hopefully everyone will change their ways in one month when the competition ends 😂

Entered some competitions- today I'm mostly looking forward to winning some kitchen knives. There must be something in the air @foxgloves!

This evening's activity is putting a vintage dress up on V!nted. I have no idea what to charge for it as there isn't a single trace of this label online...

You would think they would like to win, but it seems for some it is a bit too much like hard work.  Mind you I still haven't recovered from going into home bargains when there were lots of teens on their way to school.  I couldn't believe they were saying keep the change.  Well she said it has to go in the till so extra profit for the owners.  They just shrugged.  So much spending money they didn't know what to do with it.  I thought to myself give them a few years & they won't have a clue how to pay their rent.  It actually felt a bit sad especially after reading so much on here.
  • Hopefully they were just of an age where they didn't yet understand the intricacies of how society works, and didn't want to look 'lame' in front of their peers @badmemory
They'll learn soon enough (we hope)!
I do worry about younger people though, when I was growing up there weren't influencers on inst*gram portraying perfect lives that can be had if you buy all these products. It was bad enough with magazines but at least they were weekly or monthly, not every minute of every day
  • Period has started and I am really lacking energy. Had hoped to make a lasagne today but thought s*d it, I'll just get a take away pizza or ready meals. Then I thought 'sorry, have you won the lottery? Are you at this very moment languishing by your private pool with a glass of champagne or a rudely named cocktail? No? No.'
Having these things as treats is one thing but using them as 'nutrition' because I can't be bothered is quite another. Just shows though how easy it is to take the path of least resistance when not feeling great, and how much our physical and mental wellbeing affects our financial wellbeing. I have compromised by prepping a very tomatoey and cheesy pasta bake, so that's a couple of portions of f&v in the body and £15-20 quid in the purse.
