  • Thanks so much for sharing all, sounds like some type of Shark/Jaws would be good for us then, I'll investigate. Hoping to buy it through quidco before the 21st to get their cashback deal but will prioritise suitability and overall cost

If it’s not a good deal and if you can wait that long, Black Friday might have some deals on.

The shark has been purchased! Thanks again everyone for your comments. Every time I step over it I'm going to think 'I've jumped the shark' and laugh. Easily amused. 😂

Quidco is quite irritating but at least I've got my promise of a whole pound of cashback some indeterminable time in the future. Hopefully they'll apply the mse sign-up deal too but I can foresee that being a fight

But I'm also hopefully entered into their competition to win 20k.

Found another few Mcdonald's monopoly tokens on the street. *Puts on suit and shades, speaks in an American gangster accent* If anyone else is playing I have a few spares if you wanna meet in the speakeasy (PMs) to discuss a mutually beneficial arrangement

Did a Y*ugov survey and signed up to a new survey provider so we'll see how that goes. Still no in on Prolific though

Got my £50 voucher for the antibiotic resistance samples, will ponder how best to use that

Put a few cheap bits for sale on Olio

And I found a pound on the street, get in 😁

  • Ahh we love a bit of roadkill money - MrEH is a demon for spotting it too!

Which Shark did you go for in the end?

  • Well! Thanks to @EssexHebridean asking what make it is, I went online to get a link and saw that it was £40 cheaper today! I grumpily went on to the Currys website expecting all sorts of issues, but the nice chap just refunded the difference in less than five minutes. Bravo to Currys, what a relief when a company quickly sorts things out without a fuss. And thanks EH!

    It's this one:

  • Today's query is, do any of you know why my mum's fly swatter (one of those battery operated racket ones) would have stopped working? The light still comes on to say it's working... And I'm fairly sure we're not missing every single one of the little blighters. I'm loathe to spend another £10-£15 especially as it hasn't been used all that much, but maybe the zappy material (technical term) just degrades after a couple of years? I feel terrible using it but one or two flies I can cope with, a swarm in the kitchen needs dealing with (sorry flies)

Mine was only £1.99 from Home Bargains.  But I have found it works for bigger flies but not very well for tiny ones as for some reason it only seems to stun them.  It may be that the battery is only strong enough to light the light but not to kill the flies.  I thought mine wasn't working until I gave my finger a shock!!
  • Thanks @badmemory I'm not too fussed about big flies, irritating as they are, as they tend to be loners! And I have to admit to being secretly proud of what I consider to be my air traffic control skills of waft-block-waft-block till they go out the window 😂
I'll double check the batteries, they shouldn't have run down but you never know with batteries do you
