Still coughing up a lung.. I may get here in the morning but I am having a cat trap delivered in the afternoon to try to catch my neighbours fluff who apears to be residin in my garden and has been missin for 5 weeks.. and is still wearing her harness... I WILL reunite her with her owner!!
Went for tea with my sisters and Meem and my mother for her 70th birthday.. I coughed up lungs, ate ice cubes (I have a thermos full of them) and felt like poop the entire time.. I really should be feeling better soon right??
Pack ups done for turnips.. lactose free milk bought for Twinkle.. and I am off to my nest.. I am fairly sure I have broken a rib coughing too..
love and hugs to all.. fresh Twinks in the tin.

Welcome back Honeybear and MrsChaos.
Valli good news.
I've had a very fraught few days with 3 major 'events'.
On Thursday a very full-of-anxiety-and-panic phone call from my Mum, who is coming to stay this Wed. A friend is bringing her halfway to me and we've arranged a meeting place. 'I'll never get ready early in the morning.....I have to put the bin out/clean the fridge/pack my bag/cook friend's breakfast'......she wasn't being awkward; just the product of being 91, limited energy, lots of frustration owing to the latter, likes to do things 'right' etc. I talked her down ok but it remained a worry for me then, if not for her. I'm pretty sure now that she won't cancel.......
On Friday Mr N and his mate (R) went for a motorbike ride while I went to the optician. While walking from the optician to Mr S I got out my phone and found several missed calls and messages; Mr N's mate had crashed. To cut a very long story short, R is now in hospital 35miles from us with a broken hip and damaged shoulder ligaments. Fri eve we went to pick up R's sister, who isn't a confident driver, then to R's house (both about 6 miles away from our house and in the opposite direction to the hospital), collected pj's, toothbrush and anything we thought he'd need in hospital then drove there. Eventually left A&E and got home just before 11pm. Mr N rather shaken understandably but ok. R told he'd have hip operated on today: this has now likely been put back a whole week owing to strikes.
3rd event: one of my missed calls on Friday was our local hospital. I didn't think much of it immediately, having thought that was where R was taken and maybe someone had rung me. On further thinking, realised he hadn't been taken there, so why were they ringing me? I rang back and got hospital switchboard who were very helpful and kind but unable to tell me what department the call was from.....asked if I had any blood test results etc pending....in a panic I remembered last week's mammogram. She put me through to that dept but they had all gone home by then. State of anxiety for the rest of the next day, although the call was 2pm and I hoped if anything drastic, they would have rung back. Saturday I rang the actual admin number for the breast screening dept, which is a different area code.....nobody in. Had almost calmed down, visited R again in hospital. Went to church on Sunday and to my horror when I got home there was another missed call from local hospital. Again, ringing back got me the helpful switchboard but unable to locate caller or reason for call. Rang screening dept and left incoherently terrified message on answerphone. Checked setup on my phone to ensure voice mails were recorded properly. Spent the rest of the day and last night in state of total panic...........Rang screening admin this morning and she reassured me that they had definitely not rung me, and would not do so in that way; said I would get a letter in about a week (she wouldn't or couldn't tell me what it would say). Baffled. Rang GP in case somehow I had been referred for something or another patient had been confused with my number. No. Finally, on the way driving to visit R this afternoon, yet another call - this time a hospital from the same NHS trust left a voicemail. Really kind voice said they had received my message and all they could find in my records (they bothered to look!) was an ophthalmology appointment. I nearly cried with relief. Granted, I haven't actually booked or been given an eye appt, but I did have one last year so maybe there is a follow up. Sorry long story but I have been in such a state.
Anyway on the flying front:
- collected new glasses. Also ordered some cheap ones online to use for running and swimming.
- did a huge Mr T shop to cover this week's visitors.
- spare room and bathroom ready for Mum
- plumber/builder came to give 2nd opinion on conservatory issue
- signed most recent lot of forms from finance guy about organising my pension plan
- froze lots of French beans
- menu written for week
- paid for next term's drumming
- Mr N put up a shelf in my study for me to use as a music stand (it has a bar I can put clips on for the music, with headphones etc going on the shelf). The start of the major study clearup can begin!
- I cleared out all my flower arranging drawers and cupboard, hoovered shelves/drawers, threw away un-useful or mouse-chewed stuff and now everything fits in.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.10 -

Morning xx
@MrsChaos I think the article I read recommended baking powder and washing up liquid, but I don't have any baking powder so I experimented with bicarbonate of soda. And it worked 😊. Not being a baker I have no idea what the difference is 🤔 Glad to be of assistance 😊
At the paid stuff for the rest of the week but I'm planning on flying for at least 15 minutes each evening. I've already looked at today's list to see where I'll be busy 🙃
Have a good day

Morning everyone. Lovely to see returners.
Admin out of the way. I'm going to make a fruit salad (back on slinky, going well so far) then wash the breakfast dishes. Sofa covers need refreshing then I'll take a look at the list.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.6 -
Oh Narco that would have had me all upset as well. I’m so pleased it wasn’t anything to worry about in the end but what a trauma for you. I hope R recovers quickly.Tomorrow is A. VERY. BIG. DAY. Flylady vibes if you have any spare for DD and I would be appreciated. I then have to work tomorrow evening (!!!!!!), so expect by 8pm tomorrow I’ll be in a heap on the floor somewhere. Drafting two difficult letters if it goes the way I think it will.
love to all x7 -
Flylady vibes for your DD ASB.
Lots of flying achieved this morning from the lists so thank you for the inspiration. Not expecting to get much done tomorrow though.Spend less now, work less later.7 -
Promise this won't be as long a saga.
Rang eye clinic this morning, rather over-perky young lady said yes I have an appt on Friday. News to me, I said. Yes she replied, I only made the appt last week hence the 2 phone calls to you. A letter will follow. I mentioned I'd just had all the tests done at the opticians - she said I still need this 'annual' one (last one was Oct 2021). I asked if I would be able to drive and she said yes. Post arrived.....yea, a letter from eye clinic....don't drive!
However also got letter from breast screening, no problems so that's a relief and now I can stop panicking.
Fed and watered greenhouse.
Filled bird feeders.
Made Mr N a birthday cake. Sorted his card and present.
Started hoovering only to find they were harvesting the field behind us, stirring up lots of dust.
Watched with increasing concern as - following a big bang which seemingly was a 'malfunction' of the combine harvester - the field behind us was engulfed in flames. Such excitement - 5 fire engines, police, lots of firemen. They had to hose my shed and summer house as the flames were only a couple of yards away. However it has all been put out now, driver uninjured, farmer came round to check any damage and they have ploughed a fire break behind our hedge.
Returned to hoovering.
General preparation for Mum's visit more or less ok - could be cleaner/tidier but hey, I can blame the fire for any dust!
Am off now for a moonlight swim in the lake.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.7 -
Thank goodness for the all clear Narco, and I think I would have been in a panic too.
And much love to ASB and DD for tomorrow, hope it goes well, and did you say there was a job interview on the cards? Hope thats a positive outcome for you too xx
I should be renamed Grumpy from Yorkshire. 8 tough hours at the paid stuff followed by 2 hours cooking and cleaning. There has to be an easier way of organising my life. However, I did manage to sneak off for a facial this afternoon which was heavenly and I have managed to dust and hoover the LR and change our sheets which is good.
I will be in bed early. Catch up tomorrow x8 -
Lots of love, together with posivibes for strength and endurance, for asb and DD xx
Narc0, what a saga! So glad you are ok, and here's hoping that R gets his op soon and makes a good recovery x
So today I drove K and two very fractious girls to Bristol for her appointment. K was told that she was in the wrong place and should have gone to one of the offices in Birmingham, Manchester or Liverpool, which all cover the area where she lives (but the limit of Bristol's area of responsibility is about a mile from our house) so we came home again empty handed and all fractious. A wasted dayNow we have to work out how to log K back into a database for which she registered in about 2014 with her old email and a phone number that she can no longer remember - a problem that I suspect even Sherlock Holmes would have found tricky to solve. After a lot of prompting she is at last hopeful that she has remembered her old email address correctly, but the phone number is still eluding her. Now let me think, how many different combinations are there for an 11-digit number? At least we know that the first digit is 0 and the second is highly likely to be 7...
I cooked (ie reheated) our evening meal and washed up afterwards. Meanwhile DH booked the holiday flat that I found for the 3 of us for a short break in September. Oh, and this morning I did WMx1 and hung it out, and ran the DW on a cleaning cycle. Go me! The LR of course remains untouched.
I'm off to bed. G'night all xxx5 -
well Iona, I keep a note of previous mobile numbers…now I know why. Still got my good ole email though…so old that i get lots of offers to clear my mortgage…in $$
i did intend to clean the LR but i started with my bedroom as it was full of dots … most joined up now. i also pegged out a washload, hand washed my new jumper and laid it on a towel on the rabbit run to dry. which it hasn’t, yet
