Virgin Mobile to O2 transition issues

I am seeing a couple of niggles as part of my Virgin Mobile pay monthly transition to O2. I was moved over yesterday overnight (as expected). Since then on my Samsung S22 Ultra (Android 13)...
- I have the NFC icon permanently showing on my status bar. I use Google Pay, so this has to be enabled but I can't see any way to stop it showing (apart from turning NFC off).
- The first time I used the Chase UK Banking app it said my phone had been rooted and I could not use the App. I restarted and this seems OK now, but slightly worrying in case it stops working again.
- I had a login name sent by text for "My O2" app, but they did not send a password as promised. Not too bothered about that.

I can (sort of) explain the NFC icon display thing. It's display (or otherwise) is driven off the Country Specific Code (CSC) firmware which is country and carrier specific. Moving from VM -> O2 has tripped a switch.
My partner and I have "identical" Samsung A52s handsets but they differ in that they have different CSCs because they were sourced from different retailers. One sourced from O2 shows the NFC icon as per your S22, the other from an online retailer does not show the icon at all.
if you want to see which CSC firmware you have in your handset then Settings / About phone / Software Information and Google the values shown under 'Service provider software version'.
This difference in CSC between "identical" phones is also a reason for differences in such things as Wi-Fi calling availability from different operators.
You might be able to change this behaviour using Samsung's Good Lock program which lets you customise a lot of the UI, I haven't checked it out.1 -
Good Lock (and its sub-component QuickStar) let me hide it, thanks @flaneurs_lobster!
Thankfully WiFi calling is still enabled.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Credit Cards and Budgeting & Bank Accounts boards. I'll join this thread as well as I'm also a recent VM to O2 transferee. My issue is the 4G on my phone (Nokia 5.3) activating automatically when its not meant to do that (currently OFF). It also only happens in my home or very close (Not noticed when elsewhere). This morning it happend again as I was going downstairs the phone started pinging as it was now receiving emails, tweets & whatsapps. When I go to bed I turn the phone wifi off & also check that 4G is off as I my have been somewhere and needed 4G. It could just be a coincidence as within the last three weeks I've sacked VM as my broadband provider and am now with BRSK. The conspiracy theory part of me is wondering if O2 have dumped something unto my phone?Anybody else experienced this issue?0

When you say 4G, do you mean Mobile Data ?
If not, what advantage do you get to being on 3G/2G rather than 4G ?0 -
FYI @eamon I'm not seeing any unexpected changes in wireless status (3G/4G/5G or WiFi). At night, as well as Do Not Disturb Mode 11pm-8am, I also enable Flight Mode as I drop off.
