We arrived home yesterday after a pleasant and relaxing holiday. We were 24 hours later than expected owing to a cancelled flight, but made the most of our extra time
.
I have submitted a claim for cancelled /delayed flight compensation and extra car hire expenses incurred. Fortunately, as are original flight was late in the evening I had previously booked an ‘extra’ night, so we could stay in the villa until early evening on Monday, rather than have to leave at 11am. The owners also allowed us to stay until 5pm on Tuesday free of charge,q as our rebooked flight was also in the evening. So the situation did not turn out too badly at all.
After 4 hours sleep on Wednesday morning I spent the day putting holiday things away, catching up with admin, making appointments and a quick check of the house. I had cleaned the house and had everything up to date before I left for my holiday, which made getting back into routines easier.
I was very tired by Wednesday evening and had an early night. Feeling fine this morning. Food shopping this morning and perhaps a little gardening if the weather permits.
After 9 days of hot and sunny weather I had to put on a cardigan yesterday afternoon lol!We had some wonderful meals out too. I also went to a water park with my younger second cousin. I had a great time sliding down the water flumes as well as using rubber rings to surf the raging river etc…..!😀 Not bad a for mid 60s chap!
I also updated finances yesterday and adjusted a few pots. All good.8 -

Yesterday afternoon I received an email saying that my cancelled flight and expenses claim has been accepted. The money will be paid into my bank account within the next two weeks. Very pleased with the outcome and rapid response.
I have reviewed and cancelled my planned trip to Malta and next year’s Northern Europe cruise. The trip to Malta was just uneconomic for a 5 day visit. On reflection, I also decided I didn’t want to spend 7 days on a ship with over 5000 other people! The total cost when adding in planned excursions was also beginning to look excessive. I lost my deposits but I am happy with my decision.
I need to take time to think about where I would really like to visit and why.
