If you go to Australia then don't forget Ayers Rock (Uluru). My sister then in her 60s went out to it on the back of a very large motor bike, the pictures were extraordinary.

With all the terrible events happening in the Middle East and Australia these past few days I am beginning to think it may be safer and wiser to stay within Europe.Hopefully, the trip to Cyprus will be ok in May.
Perhaps I just need to accept I was not destined to travel far!1 -
I think you will be fine in Australia, there can be incidents at anytime anywhere, e.g. unfortunately we've had plenty in the ukIt's just my opinion and not advice.1

Agree with @SouthCoastBoy that you will be fine in Australia. What happened here on the weekend was horrific but it is not the norm and unfortunately in these times can happen anywhere at any time. I would say that if you are going to travel all this way it would be good to stay longer than a few days, there is so much to see. Also, when planning what you want to visit you need to factor in the distances between locations in Australia and the time it will take to get to each location. A couple of years ago a friend was telling me of some relatives who were coming out to Australia from Scotland and they told her they would pop in to visit while they were here. Problem was they were going to be in Brisbane and my friend lives in the southern part of Australia which is 2000 km away, her relatives just couldn't comprehend the size of the country and the distances between locations.2
