is it possible to sue and take to court an energy supplier maybe quicker. Thanks
It's ceertainly possible, but unless you can provide much better information than you've posted here you're looking at adding court fees to your son's debts.
    • What did your son's meters read when he moved into his flat?
    • What do they read today?
    • What tariff(s) has he been on during this period?
You need to know all this information before you can say whether or not he owes £6000, yet over the last two weeks (and eight pages of this thread) you have not been able to provide it.
    None of this is difficult.

qrizB , agree with you none of this difficult
before I pass on those elements
DO YOU WANT TO GO BACK MAY 2021 or Do we start at July 23 as shouldn’t be more than 12 months period
the tariff used from may 2021 to may 2022 was fixed next exclusive v5 then next flex then From may/June 2023 eon stated to bill for first time in 27 months on next flex different rate
the photo showing 82080 was the third reading given to eon in may 2021 and each month and never used until may 2023 (2 years ) this is the best I can provide, the letter from eon for the ombudsman is also included with the £6000 figure quoted. Thanks

So in the 12 months July 22 to July 23.

    Day units:   16789 - 16017  = 772 kWh
    Night units: 04053 - 03517  = 536 kWh
    Heating:      99639 - 89788  = 9851 kWh

You don't have the prices for each of the rates in any of your images that I can see, so I'll just lump them all together at the 26.512p rate that seemed to apply at least some of the time.

    Total cost = (772 + 536 + 9851) * 0.26512  + (365 * 0.47282)
                     = (11159 * 0.26512) + £172.57
                     = £3131.04

Note my very big assumption about the unit prices, and that this doesn't include anything before the July 2022 readings.

    Thanks csi Yorkshire,
after trying myself to have a go I came up to roughly £3400 at 30 p per unit.
1)minus the DD payment, minus the second charge for meter rental for one year and came up with around £300
    2) as above but the third reading unit (9851) at 16 p per unit as it was for storage heater so used at night for daytime use so at total of £1800
eon asked me to make an offer ( I made one fo £1500 for 12 months use July 22/ July 23 as I use myself £1600 for a 2 bed instead of 1 bed and 2 people instead of 1 with 50% more sqm for myself.)
they haven’t accepted and gave me a staff shortage at the moment and said we reissue a bill and talk about compensation later, and today issue the ombudsman reference letter with a £6000 amount
    totally unacceptable in my opinion.

I don't see any proof of a 16p rate applying any time in 2022/23.

There is nothing that says they have to refund the second standing charge.

If his direct debit was really £7.16 per month, that doesn't make much of a difference to £3000.

It also isn't yet established that they should only bill for the last 12 months - because we don't know how much of the back billing rules will apply.

If they think you owe nearly £6000, and we think you might owe at least £3000, why would they accept £1500?

Comparing your home to that one is irrelevant.

Thanks ,as eon is clearly at fault for not providing anACCURATE bill as they supposed to do when they have been provided with readings from day one and we know ( your and my calculations of £3000) it is probably right except my argument or charging the 3 rd readings at the highest rate when we don’t have any documentation when eon changed his contract in may 22 no mention anywhere of that missing rate so why should I accept their highest one and not the lower one especially when we know 100% it was for storage heater who load themselves at night and redistribute at daytime.if eon is looking after themselves I look after myself and need to compromise as they know about it since may 23 and by now August 23 nothing has been done yet and asked for more time when we are due to start today the ombudsman route.

All the Ombudsman does is look at the factual evidence you present and the factual evidence that the supplier presents.

They don't care about any "need to compromise" or what you will or will not accept.

I don't know my £3000 calculation is correct.  In fact I specifically said it was based on several assumptions that we don't know are true.  My calculation might be completely wrong and the £6000 bill could be exactly right.

Shouting "it's clearly their fault" will not help you in an Ombudsman case.

So the third set of readings has been missing since the start, looking at the bill for May-Jun 2021.

What did EON next say when your son raised the issue with them in 2021, after he got his first bill?

Or was he happy until May this year, when the billing caught up?

If he's been in touch with them for 2 years about this, then I apologise, but it just looks to me like he's never looked at his bills.

And now possibly lucky for him, we're into back billing territory...others/ombudsman can decide that.

Edited to ask, how was he supplying readings?

Not directly relevant to your current problem, but FYI the meter looks to be an old Horstmann radio telemeter which should ideally be replaced in the next 9 months before the planned switch-off date of the RTS switching service.
Meter replacement could be a good time to look at moving to a more conventional tariff, potentially Economy 7.
