Morning all. Lovely sunrise here, but it's grey and a bit mizzly now.
Nevertheless I have already stripped my bed, washed my duvet set, and hung everything out - I need the duvet cover dry before K leaves, which will probably involve finishing it off in the TD, so that she can put it back on the duvet for me. The pillowcases will just need airing for a bit after I've ironed them later.
I achieved several things off my list yesterday but didn't go to Action Heart because I was in too much pain. Now that the pain has subsided, I might pop up there this afternoon and do just half my programme (I shall be going again tomorrow and Friday). Reaching up to hang out washing doesn't help my shoulder. At present I use a rotary dryer, but I might need to buy a horizontal drying rack (the sort that look as if they have wings) suitable for outdoor use - though I suspect it would be pretty useless for duvet covers or bath towels. Has anybody got any recommendations or other ideas, please?
Today's plan:
- WM x2 more, when DH emerges from his cocoon
- PUPA (mostly done last night)
- dust everywhere
- shower and dress
- clean bathroom and downstairs loo
- load DW, clean kitchen
- keep K supplied with tea and scones (I'm hoping she will have time to clean some windows)
- post a card that's been lying on the front seat of my car since Sunday morning
- CS drop
- short workout?
- clear the ironing pile
DH is up and moving, so I can get started now
Hope everyone has a productive day (which includes having a good rest if that's what you need) xxx8 -
Good morning all,
Thank you so much for all your thoughts and comments. We were ok, consultant was pleased, DD somehow is a fighter. DD obviously desperately dreads what might be said too, but we both outwardly push on. Just one more appointment in August, then we hopefully breathe for a couple of months.
Nothing like stress to keep you busy, so yesterday I packed up one of the utility room cupboards, as the UR will soon be our temporary kitchen. DH took the radiator off the kitchen wall, so we are beginning to look like a cross between a building site and a house move.
This morning, like Iona, I have stripped our bed, and the wm is on. DH is leaving shortly to meet up with DSiL. DD is popping back to uni city to sort out her new room. We piled her stuff in just before we went on holiday, so she wants to sort it out. I am going to be home alone, so I have written a long list, as I won’t be able to settle until they are both back. This anxiety of either of them being out on the road is getting worse.DH is getting antsy about leaving (no point until after 9am as the traffic will be too bad), so it must be time for my second cuppa. Back soon, have a good day all x
ETA - sorry, Iona, no drying suggestions. Bedding here has to go out on the line as I don’t have a TD and the airer doesn’t really work with large sheets. I have an indoor line for winter drying, but that wouldn’t be of any help to you either, as it is like a regular horizontal line.7 -
Morning all
day at home today, mostly, though i have to have my blood test at 3. Today my new blind should be fitted - booked for 4pm
Im planning on making blackcurrant jam if the bunnies have left some currants.
Some knitting will happen - I have 3 projects with wool on the needles
Can’t help with washing hanging - I too use a line.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Mr L however has cleaned the pond AND every window in the house inside and out - frames, the lotStill trying to get the sofa cushions done but its done nothing but rain the past three weeks since the start of the school holidaysNo housework today either, we are having a day in town to pick the youngest grandchild's birthday present plus Mr L is looking for something or other which I cant for the life of me mind. Means we will be by the chicken factory and will pop in and see whats on offer. Im guessing with the amount of rain there will be lots of BBQ packs which are great for quick dinnersGot DGD coming to stay from Friday and Neice and friend coming from Australia on Sunday - so a lot of driving coming up. Their rooms have been cleaned to an inch of their lives, beds made, just have to sort out towels for them and BIG job for this week is the downstairs bathroom, but not todayIm totally exhausted, I mean really totally on my knees with exhaustion. Thank you, pigpen x
Upstairs is clean and tidy except for my bed - the duvet cover is whirling in the TD.
Downstairs is already a lot better, and I can see out of the windows! K is a great help to me8 -
Morning all,just.
So far today I have done paid stuff, changed bedding, dusted bedroom, s&sd bathroom, have third of four wash loads in machine, put recycling out, washed breakfast dishes and walked Poppet. Oh, and freshened sofa covers.
Having an early lunch then I'll whizz the hoover round.Spend less now, work less later.8 -
Morning (just),
In the van and getting here was not uneventful.
Dog was sick in the car twice, I thought it was only a little bit until we arrived and I got to clean it up. Thankfully it wasn’t my shoe that got the bulk on it 😂 so flying consisted of scrubbing the car mat, cleaning the shoe and then wher it had run down the seat and onto the carpet around the mats. It still stinks but I used nice smelling disinfect afterwards, oh and I left the ignition turned on so flattened the battery which did not impress DH. He tried a battery pack but it’s not man enough and he has not been able to get the caravan battery off to start it off that so is currently trying to jump start it from another camper. At least that means he’s had to interact with someone else, he usually avoids people like the plague.I also had a crate in the van to clean out as he had stashed some cans away and some had blown holes while in storage so it was like a mouldy lake in the bottom and he’s pi55ed off as he has no tonic for his gin as I binned the lot. He gets so stressed in the lead up and on arrival, and then again when we are packing up, I think I am going to encourage him to sell it when we get back as it’s not like DD is ever to want a holiday in it again and TBH I’m not that keen. When you had up the costs of the maintenance, storage, insurance and site fees, for what we use it, we could have a week in Manila every year for a few and we wouldn’t be dodging downpours while we consider taking whether to take dog out for a walk.
Anyway ASB live that you have the chicks in the house, I remember as a kid, we used to have them in the airing cupboard.
ionafan, you always have a huge list and sound like you do a lot for others, hope you don’t overdo it and end up in pain again.
pigpen you have a challenge on your hands, although is it as big as the picture you posted years ago with a child sat on the top (if my memory serves me well)
Fayolle sounds like you had a fairly positive visit
Valli, I love blackcurrant jam, I just finished my last jar from about 3 years ago so hoping DH has some down the allotment to make some more this year.
Longwater sounds like another one who needs to try and avoid overdoing it
Well cars started and left running now so not sure if we will be off out or we are just leaving it running.
Catch ya laterMortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!7 -
Hooverin g done. Dusty bits in living room dusted and downstairs loo s&sd.Spend less now, work less later.8

Admin done, yawn, yawn, yawn. Car tax paid, insurance still to sort, as DH stupidly hit a gate post (he hits more inanimate objects than you would believe, I suppose that I should be grateful for small mercies) and I need to declare his company’s claim but don’t have the details. Grrr, really wanted to cross it off my list.
House dusted after a fashion, washing on the line, 1 more box of kitchen detritus packed up. DD has just left, so now that her car has moved, I need to tackle the overgrown laurel. She can only get in her car because she is so petite!!
Still to do: laurel pruning, lettuce sorting and re-sowing, 3 birthday cards to make. Of course, I would really rather be sewing.7
