I'm sorry, but this arrangement is dreadful, yes desktop:

Takes out far too much (almost half) of the screen and gets in way, if using bookmark links for example. I'm sure a floating option on the left would be better
It's been previously mentioned many times, but admin have recently confirmed we are stuck with it. There's no option to remove it, and no option to disable it without it affecting something else. So as much as I hate it, you hate it, and the majority of users on the boards hate it - there's nothing (for now) we can do about it.

I'm sure there was some debate before the chosen forum software was selected, but I'm surprised nobody on the development/management team spotted that as an issue, or said 'ah that's ok' when the decision was made.I imagine we're stuck with it until the next major update - which will be who knows when (likely years in the future sadly).
Indeed! I'd hope there was alpha & beta testing of the 'final' arrangement or layout. But as with many things these days it seems the obvious in oftern overlooked :/(edit: including my spelling :D)
I'm sure it'd look better (excuse the 5 minute MS paint job!):

... all you need to do is change the photo and name and we'll all be flocking to Norfolk Canary Expert.

The Quick Links and Categories links in the header are on a hair trigger, the drop down comes up whenever you mouse over them (from, say, another tab or the back button in your browser)
    It needs a small delay

    Embedded images are too small
This is my one and only major gripe with the new forum. It's beyond annoying and shouldn't be happening at all in my opinion!

    Comments on Mark All Read

Thanks for adding this much needed feature to a sensible location.

1 - "Mark Category Read" marks the current category AND all its subcategories as read.
If used in a subcategory it does not affect the master category.
2 - "Mark All Threads Read" marks the whole forum as read.

"Mark All Threads Reads" should really be labelled "Mark All Categories Read"

I would prefer "Mark Category Read" to apply to the current category only, and not affect any subcategories

    Hi everyone

It's fantastic to see Mark Read back.

I'll be looking at the language later this week. Unfortunately, that area isn't really designed for text. It's been squeezed in, so we are very limited in character space to make sure it fits on mobile and some of the suggestions on this thread won't work.

Currently I've mocked up* and will see what can be squeezed in -

Unfortunately, I don't think it's likely we'll get more than the previous functionality. I've just checked, and the way it works now seems to the way it worked previously.

*Yes! I said there was no space but squeezed in checkmarks. It solves an ugly alignment issue and is a good visual indicator where there's lots of text.

What would be even better, would be if "mark all read" was available from being in "recent discussions ".

As it stands you have to navigate to an actual sub board before the option appears.

Woohoo!  - thanks for the 'mark all read' thingy!

I agree that the big drop down list is a real PIA  - I've learnt to use the list on the right hand side of the desktop version. Stops me getting too aggravated.
  • Glad we now have a Mark Read, but can we turn the drop down menu to an Andy Barr
