The trouble with Vanilla is it's like a off the rack suit, you can only tinker around the edges, rather than a made to measure where you get what you want. So you can't change the MegaMenu to be clickable, it's either as is, or disabled, whereas if M2M it could be.
Also on reading, it's not the best coding in the world, so rather than be able to adjust one setting and the rest stays the same, it can on impact other settings, which it shouldn't do. This makes any changes so very much harder.

@MSE_Stephen, @MSE_James. I am still not receiving the email for the MSE weekly tips newsletter. I know you say this shouldn't be connected with the forum, but I think it's too coincidental that the newsletter emails stopped when the email notifications resumed. I haven't changed any of my settings in my email account, all of the various email addresses and domain name are still in my safe senders.0 -
MollyR said:I see a "Mark All Read" option in the lower right-hand corner of the notifications bell, and use it often - especially as, when I come to the forum from an e-mail notification, simply reading the relevant thread does not mark it read in the bell! (OK, it still shows a list of topics alleged to have new posts, but since there are no green dots beside them, clearly the system knows that those are porkies; although why it cannot just say "There are no new notifications" I don't know.)
I see it too, I only use an iPad for web access so don’t know what differences there are from a pc or laptop.
It’s not doing the job that the mark forums read option did though.
i appreciate that might be what you were saying too but I wasn’t sure.
I don’t understand the why’s and wherefore’s about how it is or isn’t possible, I just think if it was there before, why would someone decide not to include it in any revamp.
Cheers

I can see the ticket where the Tip Team are investigating.
Our forum emails are entirely handled by our Forum provider so there is no crossover whatsoever between the systems.

I've just realised what it is about the graphic with the two people talking, on the Quick Links dropdown (I rarely see it) - the socks. The lady in the wheelchair is wearing ankle socks, that's why people think she's in a hospital gown and slippers. Otherwise it could much more plausibly be just a dress.

Look what I just noticed ... how long's that been there ??5

Ooh yeah. I'm not too sure which is which but I've clicked on them both and my whole forum is now marked as read. It would be good to have the universal one at the top of the all categories page, maybe labelled as all categories read.1

Yes that's much better. When I've finished looking at the last category I'm interested in, clicking 'mark all threads read' effectively marks the whole forum as read without going back and to.0
