The fix I went on just as the cap was announced is 13p a unit more on electric although the sc is 6p more on SVR, and gas is just under 3p more but the new sc is 2p more.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but even though I've been told that it's perfectly possible to end my present fix today - just 25 days early - actually getting them to do it is a different matter altogether.0 -
Well, I logged on today to submit meter readings and I had the v4 offer - I never had fixed offers before!
It represents a drop of ~6% for me (from the new July rates) so it was easy to decide to go for it.Being brave is going after your dreams head on0 -

I think that although a bit ambiguous under the T&Cs you are only charged an exit fee if you change supplier rather than tariff...11.2 "You can arrange to switch to another of our tariffs or to another supplier at any time without giving notice, but if you switch supplier before we send you your renewal notice we may charge you an exit fee. See your confirmation letter for details."
I can't see that they will charge you a change of tariff fee if you stay with them for the simple fact that BG state "We can now offer our existing energy customers fixed energy tariffs. And, if we bring out an even better fixed deal in the months to come - you can swap to that for free."
It's a long time since I was on a fix but still got the offer. It said on mine as a long time customer1 -

It says they fix will save me £3 per month. Doesn't seem enough if the price cap will go down again in October.0

I wonder whether if the variable rate price drops in October they will release another lower fix tariff to transfer to in order to give them more guidance for forward purchasing for a guaranteed customer base providing them with more consumer stability to base their calculations on. Effectively tracking just below the variable rate.0 -
I think it's a no brainer really and made the jump because I can't see any good deals coming out on the open market any time soon without E.On releasing a similar tariff. It's more likely that you will have to 'tariff hop' if E.On brings out a better deal. I think the document you get on the switch confirms that the exit fee only applies to supplier switches.

We aren't being offered the fix - only available tariff is NextFlex. Is it only offered to certain postcodes?0

That is an interesting thought on the October possibilities. I suspect the customer numbers will determine the level of any new fix offers. They may also be hoping for customer inertia if any cap reduction is small.0
