This morning  my online account is showing me now on the SVT having changed from the fixed tariff , my credit of £415 is still showing , no new bill was raised overnight., my last bill was raised on the 1st May , so for clarity I need to give it a few days to make sure the amount I am in credit doesn’t reduce by £300 or on my next bill
I have also received an email confirming the price change and terms of the new tariff  etc
But did you get a credit of £150 to take out the fix originally? As i did and have had to pay it back

. I’m aware other energy suppliers are waiving their exit fees so I don’t see why EDF can’t.
EDF did offer to waive exit fees with opportunity to switch to SVR.

  • Other energy firms are waiving their exit fees now - I’m not talking about last year.

    Which ones?
  • Even Martin Lewis mentioned that was the case and I know E-on are waiving exit fees.

Eon Next as well as Eon before that typically did not charge exit fees when changing tariffs, EDF normally do unless within a certain number of days before fixed term ends, EDF customers should have known that when choosing fixed rate.

No I didn’t get a credit , I have looked back through my bills also I took out dual fuel so I would have got a credit of £150 x 2 = £300

The only credits / refunds I have had are the £67 government payments x 6 which were credited to the EDF account and then refunded to my bank account and a £500 refund recently where I asked them to check my credit balance , my usage and my direct debits and they agreed I was due £500 refund , I am currently £415 in credit

i have saved the WhatsApp’s conversation with the EDF supervisor who said it was possible , I also have her direct email address as a first point of contact if something goes wrong and they later take £300 off my account

I’m in the same boat with the exact same tariff. I rang EDF yesterday to be told I’d have to pay the £300 exit fees if I were to switch to their standard variable rate. So I emailed in a complaint to customer services asking them to waive the exit fees as I was going to stay with them and not doing so would basically force me to move elsewhere once energy suppliers started to offer fixed tariffs after 1st July. They answered by telling me it wasn’t worth me moving to their standard rate as I’d have to pay the £300 - basically what I’d already told them in my email! I might try the WhatsApp route to see if I can get a different answer, otherwise I’m moving as I can’t afford to be paying overinflated prices and I refuse to fund a company that is taking advantage of customers even though prices are falling. I’m aware other energy suppliers are waiving their exit fees so I don’t see why EDF can’t.
EDF will have hedged your fixed rate - ie purchased the gas and electricity for you for 2 years in advance at prices close to what your fix costs (less a bit of profit).  They will not be able to get out of these advanced purchases so if they just let you off your commitment then they will make a big loss.  Doesn't sound fair to me.

On the other hand I am in the same situation so hope that they do take the hit.
    I think....

In that case you might strike lucky. I wundt begrudge anybody achieving this as I suffered no actual loss on reverting to SVT.
