    Hi S
i will know better on the 22nd ( Thurs) the day/date the tariffs actually change over , all the info on their website still shows I am on the fixed
i will certainly let you know how things turn out and I also I have the email address of the person who gave me the corrected info , she also said this ………on what apps

I will post back more info tomorrow , I am currently £415 in credit with them , so if they take the £300 I will see instantly , I assume I will get a new bill created for gas and electric used on the fixed tariff tomorrow
My last bill was dated 1st May 2023

    Hi Steve,

    Thanks for the reply.

I assume from your first paragraph above that you have already initiated the swap, with tomorrow being the changeover date? Otherwise I guess you would be on the EPG rate until the subsidy finishes on 30th June.

I'm on the exact same fix until 31 July 24 so will be very keen to know all goes well for you.

I'm following with great interest - as per Staffordian11 ,I've been told on chat ,that if I move my gas only fix to SVT ,I'll be hit with the £100 charge !!

I was told by EDF staff it wasn’t possible , today I found a member of staff who said it was possible , so whilst I have her attention and email address and her confirmation I could move onto the standard tariff I took the option to set things going.
I was expecting a new bill in the early hours of Thurs morning but maybe as I will still be on the government subsidised tariff until the 1st July maybe I won’t until after that date ,when the EDF  SVT will kick in .
I am hoping to get an email confirming the change has taken place , hopefully with no extra fees , if I do get lumbered with fees it’s back to the staff member whose direct email I have
I will post back tomorrow either way and update the state of play
I sent her an email direct to her address and she replied within minutes on Whatapps
so fingers crossed she has a finger on the pulse and can make it happen
with prices reducing on the 1st July and again in October it’s a “ must “ try and a no brainier

My EDF account is now showing SVT as my current tariff with no end date , so things are happening one way or the other

I moved off my July 24 gas fix last week to the SVT and was charged the exit fee of £150... though i was given a credit of £150 to go on it  last year which i never spent in case of paying exit fee.

See how I get on , I am currently on the government reduced price of 10 p for gas but on the 1st July I go back on my fixed rate of 13 p for gas , compare that to the 7p ish standard rate , it’s almost half of the fixed rate
I don’t mind staying with EDF till July 24 on the SVT  but if I have to pay £300 to get onto this tariff , I may as well leave altogether

This morning  my online account is showing me now on the SVT having changed from the fixed tariff , my credit of £415 is still showing , no new bill was raised overnight., my last bill was raised on the 1st May , so for clarity I need to give it a few days to make sure the amount I am in credit doesn’t reduce by £300 or on my next bill
I have also received an email confirming the price change and terms of the new tariff  etc

    So far so good!

I wonder if a bill will be generated by the tariff change, or whether you'll have to wait six months from your 1 May bill?

Either way, I'd have thought they would take the £300 pretty promptly if they were going to.

    Please keep us posted.

I thought I would get a bill overnight , but looking back on historic bills when prices have changed , my smart meter has reported the amount and dates I used the fuel and then EDF have sent a bill splitting by dates and tariff charges but on the same bill
I think 1st Nov will be my next bill
  • I’m in the same boat with the exact same tariff. I rang EDF yesterday to be told I’d have to pay the £300 exit fees if I were to switch to their standard variable rate. So I emailed in a complaint to customer services asking them to waive the exit fees as I was going to stay with them and not doing so would basically force me to move elsewhere once energy suppliers started to offer fixed tariffs after 1st July. They answered by telling me it wasn’t worth me moving to their standard rate as I’d have to pay the £300 - basically what I’d already told them in my email! I might try the WhatsApp route to see if I can get a different answer, otherwise I’m moving as I can’t afford to be paying overinflated prices and I refuse to fund a company that is taking advantage of customers even though prices are falling. I’m aware other energy suppliers are waiving their exit fees so I don’t see why EDF can’t.
