I've just printed out my first ticket and am booking up my tickets for the next couple of months
What I don't understand is the need to waste paper like this, I can fly to germany with Ryanair for £10 with just a checksum code written on my hand and a passport - isn't printing out tickets a bit of a throwback to the 90's?

Yes it is really isn't it unlike MegaBus & MegaTrain where you can just copy the booking number for presentation. Perhaps in the near future they'll have something similar to this or maybe a facility which allows you to text the booking number to your mobile like with National Express.
And by the way they'll hand back the ticket once they've checked it so don't forget you can always stick it in for recycling once you return home.0 -

Not that I'm aware of. I've been keeping an eye on there site so will keep you posted if it does. This is the second time they've extended the booking availability date and if they do extend it again it will probably be done by the end of this month.0

Just got an email about this.
The fares are available Monday-Friday until May 22. The fares range between £3-£9, with most £3 availability found on the last evening services of the day.
Tickets available at:

Hope this helps someone!0 -
I booked one of these cheap tickets through the trainline.com as opposed to direct with virgintrains.com. Trainline.com took my money and did not allow me to print the ticket. I spent ages on the phone to them...0870 of course...and they said that I did not have a booking and that the booking reference that I had in front of me did not exist. They told me it was Virgin trains fault and to call them. So I did. Needless to say they said go back to trainline. Again I spent ages on their 0870 number trying to sort it out...this is where they make their money I suppose! So I have paid and still do not have a ticket to print off. I reckon that I have spent about £10 on phone calls...for a £3 ticket.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Perhaps not such a good deal after all.0 -
Sorry to here your bad luck with Trainline/Virgin Trains. Next time you want to call a 0870/0845 number try searching saynoto0870.com.
I wonder if your credit/debit card company could help with your dilemma.0
