Working in Haslingden (Lancs) - other stores in the area tried but no stock left. Both smoked and unsmoked available in Haslingden, some dated 25/26 Dec, some dated Jan.

What a find by the OP - many thanks, post of the year I reckon, also to ben500 for the description.

Cooking one of mine now - it smells lovely!

3 years ago i was a duty manager of a tesco express store, and we had the facility to override and implement price changes at store level.
Frequently multi-save promotions weren't applied by head office through the system and we had the facility to add these manually instore.
i.e fresh chicken kievs came in with a prepack display of 2 for £3 - the promotion had ended, but we had to honor it as it was displayed on the product - this was simply done on the system via the barcode. we could then delete it when the applicable stock had sold out.

With the Gammon glitch, stores may have been informed through the emergency message system to delete the incorrect multi-save whilst they update it at day-end tonight, however as each barcode would be different because the items are priced by weight, they might not know how to action this on the system, or indeed be too busy to action it, hence the differencial between stores.

The above is of course just one of many possiable theories, but it is a fact that prices and promotions can be added, amended and deleted at store level for that store.

Unless I'm just being dim I couldn't see any matching the description at the Warwick store this evening, there was only 1 that looked similar but it cost under £20, poo! Am tempted to try Coventry but dont really want to go out in the cold again! Anyone had any luck with any coventry stores?

I went to my store this morning and got 2 and not only did it take off the money to make them £5.00 each it actually took off the £5.00 aswell so they were free. I went back with my sister and got 4 more so all my sisters and my Mum can have one aswell!!!! So I got £132.00 worth of meat for nothing. Thanks a lot to the original poster. Happy Christmas.

Both of mine were £20 & £21 something & neither worked.
I was dead embarassed when I realised I'd 'forgotten' my credit card but miffed that I may have done something in error for it not to have worked.

Weight NOT SURE.. but as has been said befor esome stores it works others not.

Well done for those who have managed to bag some of this. You'll be needing a bigger frezzer soon.
