  • This is my favourite book of all time. It is full of action and adventure:eek: and you just don't want to put it down. When Professer Lindenbrock finds a secret parchment leading to the centre of the Earth, he plans to follow it into the depths of the Earth. Inside the Earth they are strung with a load of problems from lack of food and water to prehistoric giants an dinasours. My favourite bit is when they are shot out of the depths of the Earth (you will have to read the book to find out wat exactly happens).

My favourite word is prehistoric because it describes before man and ancient. I think this book is for 10-11+ years.

Hope this helps you chose a new book BYE BYE BYE:hello: :hello:

  • I absolutely adore this book. It is a book which takes you on a journey with a nine year old boy called Bruno (personally i think that thats a cool name) who is alive during the war. It is hard to give you info about the book because that ruin the book when you read it so its better to read it without any clue about whats going to happen. My favourite bit is the killer ending when Bruno just dissapears.

My favourite word is immediate because it desribe straight away without hanging around. I think this book is for 11-12+ years.

Hope you enjoy the book if you read it BYE BYE.

glad to see that you are getting on so well. I was telling a friend of mine, who is a teacher, all about this thread and she was very inspired - so much so she has set up her own book club!

several of us all meet up once a month to chat about the book we have read - this month we are reading Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks.

    Thanks for all your inspiration!

Is that Journey to the Centre of the Earth the Jules Verne one? so glad to see you are enjoying 'classic' fiction as well as modern classics, IYSWIM. DS2 really enjoyed HG Wells when he was a year or two older than you!

    Hello Hawkrider :hello:

Glad you enjoyed the Boy in The Striped Pyjamas. My favourite bit about the book was how Bruno got names of places and people wrong because he didnt know any better.

Well done on all the books you've read and enjoyed so far.
