Bit of an an update.
I can now see the PayPal direct debit on the Chase app. It's marked as 'pending' but at least it's now visible.
To be honest I'll probably just set up 2 x 30p direct debits just to be on the safe side. Is it advisable to wait until the direct debits have actually been processed before initiating a switch?0 -
Thank you for this great thread. I just wondered what the best of these options is for making a debit card payment in then being able to quickly make on back out again quickly. I have just opened a Halifax Reward current account and am hoping to set up another 2 and also a joint one which I understand is the maximum these days. I have a cash flow issue currently so want to be able to retrieve the £500 back to my current account as soon as possible.1

Add funds to Revolut via debit card is instant, as is a transfer to a bank account, but they are known to remove the feature if they perceive that the customer is overusing it (I've seen this reported more when people have used it for lots of tiny transactions than for 1-3 £500 payments, but I don't doubt they're not keen on either).
YBS debit card deposits are available to withdraw 2 working days after they are deposited. The withdrawal process takes another working day.
As a general rule I'd advise choosing a provider or some providers who you wouldn't be devastated to receive a ban from.
If money is tight then you might wish to consider doing it in smaller chunks, e.g. 4 lots of £125 - although this would increase the number of debit card deposits you'd be performing which may (or may not) mean you're more likely to be flagged up.
You might wish to consider shifting more of your monthly spend to a credit card which can be paid off using a debit card. Check the provider accepts debit card payments, I can confirm Santander, Amex, Tesco Bank, Barclaycard and LBG do at present but Natwest, HSBC UK and Virgin Money have all stopped accepting debit cards in recent years.

PayPal Direct Debit
I already have one current account set up with PayPal for a regular Direct Debit payment. Is it possible to set up a different bank's current account so I can use that for another Direct Debit payment in addition to my existing monthly payment, please?0 -

Can anyone explain how to do a debit card payment into Zing. I've navigated round the app and can only see a bank transfer in option.0

Charity Bank stopping direct debit usage. Email as follows:
From the 27th of February 2025, here’s what is changing:
We are removing the Direct Debit service to fund your account
We shall no longer be offering the service to fund your account regularly by Direct Debit. However you will still be able to fund your account by cheque and electronic transfer (Faster Payment, BACS and CHAPS). You can also set up a standing order from your existing nominated account where Direct Debits have been sent from to make regular payments to your account with us. This allows you more control and flexibility over the management of these regular payments, as you can amend or cancel a standing order as and when you like. We believe this is more beneficial to our savers than the current Direct Debit service as it is limited to the date we specify.1
