You might wish to consider shifting more of your monthly spend to a credit card which can be paid off using a debit card. Check the provider accepts debit card payments, I can confirm Santander, Amex, Tesco Bank, Barclaycard and LBG do at present but Natwest, HSBC UK and Virgin Money have all stopped accepting debit cards in recent years.

Sainsbury's credit card accepts debit card payments, but this will stop when the CC gets transferred to Nat West later this year. That's according to an email I have just received from them. I have sometimes paid my Sainsbury's CC with a Halifax DC, but nowadays I usually use a Skipton savings account.

    PayPal
I'm trying to make a transfer from PayPal to a debit card (as, according to PayPal info on withdrawing money from them, there's a fee of 1.75% if I did it "in minutes" rather than "2-3 days").  I've tried setting up 3 different bank accounts and debit cards, but although they're showing in the wallet, nothing's showing for any of the debit cards I've linked in the transfer page.  However, if I select "in minutes" it's showing a linked bank account, and underneath it sates "Fee: Free".

What am I doing wrong here, with cards not visible on transfer page, when they're all listed in the wallet?  Do I take it for Gospel that if it states no fee for "instant" transfer, I won't end up getting charged the 1.75%.

@10_66 that looks to be a US site, so the functionality you describe might not be available in the UK? I only ever recall being able to withdraw my PayPal balance to a current account, not a debit card.

Zopa`s £30 cashback on their current account by having £1500 of direct debits.
Would a £1500 monthly payment to invest engine personal pension work?
It`s a "savings plan" using open banking technology but is called a variable recurring payment. Is this another name for a direct debit?
I would cancel after one monthly payment.

    No.

Open banking payment is not a direct debit.

Do you have a PayPal account?  I linked Zopa to PayPal, then transferred the £1,500 from Zopa to PayPal (using the 2-3 days option as that uses the direct debit).  Payment went through successfully within the 3 days.  I only did this the other day, so can't confirm whether Zopa will pay the £30 yet.  I think they pay this on the same date as interest payments are made, so I'll have to wait a while until I can confirm.

It's not something you need to open - in the sense that it's just another method to deposit into a current account with them effectively.

Here is some info on setting it up - https://www.starlingbank.com/features/settle-up/
