Thanks guys, I am really pleased at how much I have managed to save and I can now make my summer 2026 plans. I have also boosted my sinking funds and my Black Friday and Christmas pots are fully funded as is my birthday trip fund for next Spring.
I have been thinking about the new sealed pot which starts today and I am going to just do it in cash this year. I do have the left overs from the last one and today I have added £20 left over cash budget. I will still do savings challenges but these will be separate. I think The other challenges will be for my travels and trips and the sealed pot will be used for Christmas. I feel like I have proven to myself how much I can save now so I no longer feel I have to lock it away. Hopefully this makes sense, open to feedback and your opinions on this though.
So, today is a NSD for me, I don't have any plans and don't need anything. Total PAD was £5 to the sabbatical and the £20 left over budget to the sealed pot.
That's all from me today
Hope you have Fab Fridays!
LMD x

The best part of Sealed Pot Challenge for me is also counting up the cash LMD.
It’s that little element of surprise at the end of the challenge.I also use ‘save the pennies/save the change’ features on my accounts to add to the pot. Additionally my Delay Repay payments for poor train service also goes in electronically.I think keeping your potting as coins is a good option as (for me anyway) it adds an element of motivation and unknown. I love how my pots ultimately become very heavy27/5/17 Mort 64705 BTs 1904031/12/17 Mort 59815 BT 1673007/04/20 Mort 49208 BT 1572128/07/20 Mort 47387 BT 1263414/11/20 Mort 45905 BT 10134 20/05/21 Mort 42335 BT 686811/08/22 Mort 32050 BT 2915Sealed Pot Challenge 16 Number 51 -
Oh and by the way @amber03
There are lots of great motivational challenges on the forum. I highly recommend Payment a Day and the Sealed Pot Challenge.
I know LMD does even more, but it was her that got me into the Payment a Day challenge, which I find a fantastic way to reduce debt and increase savings. Little and often works surprisingly well for me27/5/17 Mort 64705 BTs 1904031/12/17 Mort 59815 BT 1673007/04/20 Mort 49208 BT 1572128/07/20 Mort 47387 BT 1263414/11/20 Mort 45905 BT 10134 20/05/21 Mort 42335 BT 686811/08/22 Mort 32050 BT 2915Sealed Pot Challenge 16 Number 52 -
I love a cash pot you can hardly pick up by the end of the challenge! I also like a Friday Tilly tidy of my bank accounts. Currently I move the bits and pieces into the mortgage account but fingers crossed some day soon it can head savings way 🤞SPC #023 SPC 12: £125.86:SPC 13: £214.98: SPC 14: £297.41 SPC 15: £237.27 SPC 16 £335.39; SPC 17 £662.09 SPC 18 £660.03[ SPC 19 ?COLOR="DeepSkyBlue"]MFW #21 Mortgage start Dec 2015 £79,950; Oct 2025 £17,729 2025 OP £2156.36/COLOR]/£2,000 MFiT T6 #3 £19070/£25,500 (72.82%%) MFiT T7 #3 £4181/£21,930 (19.06%)2

My coin pots this year were very heavy Hettyhound and I do think some of the excitement on counting day was due to that fact.Hettyhound said:I love a cash pot you can hardly pick up by the end of the challenge! Happy Monday guys, I hope you all had a great weekend! I may have booked another trip on Saturday for September next year. Which in hindsight may have been a bit better planned as the deposit is followed by 2 further instalments on the 1st of the next few months. So I pay another lot on Saturday... I should have been more patient hahaha. You know what it's like when you're planning with friends though.
Today is pay day, and as soon as the money comes in, I whip it away to other accounts so I don't get the urge to spend it all. Other than the trip being booked, I've not had a spendy weekend at all and even had a NSD Sunday.
Today will be a NSD for me and I will need to work out my PAD now that I've moved my money around as I've allocated to my sinking funds and travel pots.
Still on book 60, I've been playing on my video game in my down-time this weekend, between cooking, cleaning, putting up the halloween decorations and sorting the garden for winter. Back to work for a rest I think!
So that's it from me for now. I hope you're all doing well and haven't been impacted by the stormy weather...
Much love
