We go mid November for a week to the canaries with DSD and her boyfriend. I’m really looking forward to it and some sunshine!

  • Morning :) How is it already Wednesday? I am off work again for the rest of the week after today, which is why my days have been so busy lately as I've been squeezing all my work into 2-3 days :D

Today the dice rolls sent £40 to the sealed pot, not too bad really... it's a NSD for me which is good as I am out with friends tomorrow and then on Friday I have another friends birthday party at a local pub. I am hoping for a no-spend weekend after that!!

I am still working my way through book 55, it's very good but life has just been a bit crazy at the minute I can't seem to find a decent chunk of time to have a good read.

Hubby has been brighter these past few days, so I think him having something to do whilst he's at home is having a positive impact on his mental health, he's impatient about going back to site and getting back to 'normal' but he will have to take the advice of occupational health on that one.

I think that brings you all up to date on the house of determined Lol
    Much love and happy vibes

  • Book 55 finished and onto number56... I am wondering how many I will need to take on holiday with me as I can really get through them when I have the time on my hands!

Today isn't a NSD for me as I have spent the day out with my friends, my PAD was just the £5 to the sabbatical.

Good news though, I have managed to cut back enough on the last 2 weeks spending budget to allocate funds for week 5, so that is a little bonus there. I have my dad to thank for that really as he paid for almost everything when I was away last weekend.

    That's all from me today

  • Quick update as I am off out for a walk with the pooch.

Just £5 sabbatical added to savings this morning... out tonight for a milestone birthday bash so not a NSD but I am looking forward to a non-spends weekend!

Hope you all have a fab weekend

  • Good morning and happy Monday :)  I hope you all had a nice weekend!

I managed to have a spend free weekend so that was a bonus for me, I had a real lazy day yesterday too where I read a good chunk of book 57! We don't have any plans tonight either so it's another NSD for me today.

My PAD this morning included the usual £5 to the sabbatical, which is creeping closer to the £4k mark.  Due to having to pay for DH at the moment though my sinking funds have taken a bit of a beating.  Although he has started working from home, he hasn't actually had anything from HR to confirm his pay, and he's been restricted t to 12 hours a week by occupational health. We have no idea what his next pay will be... Therefore I will just continue to pay for us both for the time being.

Not much else to report, it's been a laid back weekend really and I'm definitely not going to grumble about that!

Up before my alarm this morning which isn't like me, I will probably regret it later as I'm out tonight again (not a NSD!) I think DH has started to get the hang of the working remotely thing and he seemed to have a really good day yesterday. I'm pleased about that.

My PAD today included £5 to the sabbatical, I have also had to transfer some money to DH for bills and such but that's not being included in my PAD...I'm just glad we are in a position for me to do this, and you never know the silver lining might be that DH actually starts budgeting and saving when he starts getting a normal wage again.

I finished book 57 yesterday lunchtime and read the first chapter of 58 in bed last night, that last one was a real page turner.

Hope you're all OK and doing well

  • Morning all and happy Wednesday :) This week is flying by and I love Wednesdays as it's dice challenge day.  £35 was sent to the sealed pot from the dice rolls this morning so that's a bonus.  The sealed pot gets opened next Thursday and I am excited. It coincides with my day off so I can bag up my pennies and take them to the post office :)

PAD also included £5 to the sabbatical as usual but nothing much else happening in the accounts, there's still almost 2 weeks until pay day and we are still a bit apprehensive about DH pay and what will happen at the end of this month so trying to be a little conservative with what we are spending.

It's a NSD for me today, I'm meeting friends for lunch tomorrow which will be nice, but low key and low spend. No plans for the weekend either so that's always a bonus.

That's all from me, take care

Just had a lovely memory from years back when reading about your sealed pots. When I used to use more cash for paying for items I used to buy those sealed tins that you buy from the likes of home b@grins and any change from notes I used to put into the sealed tins. I would open the tins just before Xmas. I was always amazed by how much I would save. Nowadays I used my banking app and have the feature to double up to the nearest pound on any transactions. So it’s basically the same but miss the suspense of the opening of the tin.
