Any volunteers for June?3

Bit of help please, if anyone knows the answer. Just had an email from Virgin Media re the transfer of landline to fibre phone. Can anyone tell me if an engineer needs access to your home to do this. I don't use the landline but it's part of the package. Frankly all we got was nuisance calls. I've got a lot of hospital treatment and appointments and I really can't be bothered if they need access to the house. Have tried phoning and messaging them online but as usual no reply despite hanging on for ever. Appalling customer service. Once we're out of contract I think we'll be cancelling. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. xxxxHave adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.5

And we are grateful for you @grandmanerd 😊
Have had a horrendously busy day at work. Found it very hard to concentrate and felt myself getting irritated. At least I can work from home tomorrow. Didn’t have time to exercise which never helps with the mood. On plus side managed to make it outside for a walk and back again before the heavens opened…. various frogs eaten and some laughs with colleagues…No NSD today as we’ve decided to get a naughty takeaway pizza (well a pick up deal so at least it’s cheap)Grateful for not getting rained on earlier, for bf ordering dinner, for all of the turtlesStudent loan £5849

Hi @toni'sfriend, how frustrating that sounds.
I am afraid I have totally inconclusive information for you....when this was done at my house (terraced city street), they did need to access the house. When it was done at my parents (semi detached bungalow), they didn't. 🤔
When you or himself can bear it, and if it is relevent, it might be worth registering with utilities as someone undergoing the kind of treatment that you are dealing with. We found mum's illness unlocked this label for her which has helped a bit with the speed of customer service responses from water, gas, phone companies. All apart from +net, who were totally unhelpful and very exasperating when I was trying to pay them money for her mobile phone that had got cut off while in hospital.
As you say, you have enough on your plate just now though! x8 -

Evening turtles
Busy day at work today with meetings and various reports to start. Shopping delivery today so no NSD. I also nabbed a magic bag through Too Good To Go. Donated some of it to a colleague as she was very much under the kosh and hadn't had lunch by 4pm. Not much else to report, just plodding on, finalised June's budget as well. Decided to give myself a little more leeway next month financially as I've got a mad month work wise so I'm going to be kind to myself where I can.
Finished the day with my boxing class, getting back into it now that I'm recovering from tendinitis in my elbow, should sleep well tonight!Save £3,000 emergency fund #79 - £2,073.28 as of 05/24

G'day you lovely lot! Didn't exercise this morning, as had a dr's appointment at 8.15, so needed to eat my breakfast earlier. After the drs I nipped in the local shop to buy my TV mag, then sat outside the post office for half an hour reading it, until the PO opened. Paid money into my account, & posted 2 airmail letters, then headed to work.
A great morning, the afternoon went well too. I was in the baking group, so got to taste the products of our labour 😋 did the ironing when I got back, unpicked a zip, then replaced it with a new one. Washing in & off the line too. Took GF home & had a bath
Grateful for a good day, baking, my tea when it was ready as I was starving!Use it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

Evening all! It's been a busy few days, but fairly thrifty, I think.
I managed to combine driving to see relatives with various tasks so got more done for my miles. I have a bit more driving than normal over the coming long weekend - am visiting another older relative every few days as their (also family) carer is away on holiday, hopefully they will then be able to reciprocate when I go away; have to pick DD up from our regional airport a couple of hours away; and have probably got 2 trips to and fro to my house to do too (an hour each way).
Made it to the gym every day this week so far, aim to go Fri and Sat am then that's probably it until midweek next week. Meals have all been from stores, and fairly healthy - a little forward thinking on my part at the weekend has really helped get the veggie hm meals in the right place to be of use to me this week. Two of the main meals felt like real treats as they were ones I swapped with a friend - we both batch cooked then gave each other a few so we had more variety. I am still using berries from the garden last year for morning smoothies, and it's worked well to freeze a bit of spinich to use in them too. Have redirected a few chocolate urges to chocolate rice cakes, but am out of these now. I still have a couple of olio pastries in the freezer I think, so will pull those out tomorrow for a sweet hit.
We are inching our way towards exchange on the new home. A small part of the deposit is a gift from parents, this is proving a bit of a nightmare as solicitors want a lot of info to help prevent money laundering. As the funds are the selling of a sole trader business 23 years ago, I am not really sure how much documentary evidence I can provide. They wanted wage slips (my folks have been retired 20+ years). It's a long game with little rewards if we were laundering this 5k! Excellent broker has stepped in to speak to solicitors for me and hopefully we can find a way forward.
Vendor has agreed to progress with a radon bond held back, as surveys show up to 10% of properties in the area are at elevated radon levels, and ground floor/basement areas at higher risk. Our flat is in an old cellar so the 3 month tests are the only way to establish if this is an issue or not. The radon association are very helpful with templates/info and it seems like the mitigation typically comes in under £2500 so a bond at that level is reassuring..
Election monies have been paid, but not what I was expecting..I need to chase up tomorrow if there are deductions made, or if they have forgotten to add the £50 for training on.
Much poring over budgets, accounts and spreadsheets in my future this weekend!6 -
