Sorry to hear your news, Thriftylass
NSD No 6
Well, today didn't quite go as planned. The scan wasn't for what I thought it was for. Either I wasn't told about it, it wasn't made clear or Himself and I completely misunderstood. I'm pretty certain wasn't the latter. I've also received a text reminding about a bone density scan next week. Didn't know anything about that either although I do understand the reason. Oh well, it all has to be done anyway so there's no real harm done and I have received the dates for my radiotherapy. It seems like an awful long time but needs must. The scan itself was not as bad as I thought it might be. It is really quite interesting how these things work when you can put the worry of what's wrong with you to the back of your mind. Staff, as always, were superb.
So nothing much done again today

Hugs from me too thriftylass and more for anyone that wants them or needs them.
I've had a good morning. Had an appointment with the practice nurse at 10 am and it was obvious I would need a taxi. Went early because they have more accessible toilets at the infirmary and more of them so I took it in stages, resting frequently. My medication does need to increase and another tablet is to be added (rapper, that's not what it's called but near enough). The order should go to the pharmacy tomorrow and they'll deliver within a few days. Blood pressure was fine - she did it twice as it was the first time was a bit worrying and I don't normally have problems.
I told her I'd decided my body was in crisis and had already started to make changes - the diet I'd checked out chimed with all my cravings (broccoli, beetroot, carrots, celery and apples) and I'd already cut back on fizzy drinks and was drinking 4 l of tap water most days
She asked about my ankle and I have an appointment next Wednesday with first stage physio (through the surgery - I think the waiting time for the physio department was 16 weeks last time). They had a Monday appointment but it was half an hour before my optician's appointment.
I wanted to do something about food but the options I'd thought of all felt too demanding (getting off at the bus station and then taking another bus out to near the shops I wanted). However, it was the right day for the fruit and veg stall at the infirmary. At the start of the pandemic, one of the market traders set up outside the hospital so staff and patients could buy fresh fruit and veg and it's still there. So I've spent over £30 but have a good selection, mostly in better condition than the SM offerings and almost no packaging. Filled a bag for life and another heavy duty carrier bag.
I'd just missed a bus so I went in the little cafe, ate 2 toasted teacakes, bought a wholemeal baguette for lunch (no mayo) and a pack of 4 scones (as recommended in the ultimate cholesterol lowering diet leaflet I'd also picked up - suggesting plain treats such as teacakes or scones rather than higher sugar/ fat items). Yes I can make scones but if I make 14 scones, I'll eat 14 scones. I also ate my toasted teacakes very slowly, savouring every mouthful (if this is going to be my one day out this week, I'll make it into an occasion).
With my walker fully loaded I toddled down to the bus stop, got off at the nearest stop to my house, took 3 sit down breaks in the less than a block to the crossing. Sat by the flower beds and put back 2 primulas that had been pulled from the soil. Crossed then sat on 2 benches crossing the front of the town hall. I had 3 books that I thought were due back today and went in the library to renew them in case I forgot when I got in. Picked up another 3 books.
Finally reached home, by this stage I was walking further than I wanted to because it was getting harder to force myself back to my feet after resting. Collapsed on the couch with my baguette and the book I was reading. DS3 brought my bags and the walker in, decided he would go to the bathroom before he sat down and didn't return. So I stretched out on the couch (painful to stand at all). I have a delivery due but this morning there wasn't a time given.
After 3 hours resting I've finally managed to make it upstairs to fetch the laptop and I'm staying right here for now (with blueberries and raw mushrooms).
Grateful for helpful nurses and veg sellers, little buses, the library, resting.10 -
Morning turtles!
Very spendy day yest, fetched my friend from the airport and it was incredibly busy so decided to get a taxi into town. Had drinks and a bite to eat at a rooftop bar, was lovely but did get chilly when the sun went behind the clouds. Showed friend some of the main sights, then more food and drink before bed at a reasonable hour. Was so lovely to catch up, and more of the same today.

Veg stall sounds great @grandmanerd and nice to support a venture like that, bringing the veggies to the people!
@Toni'sfriend its hard to take in all the information at times like this, I hope it wasn't too bewildering a day and your feeling ok today - if exhausted! Things got much easier for us once we got a nominated cancer support nurse, I make use of them regularly, just texting to make sure i've understood something correctly about mum's treatment. Unfortunately the treatment schedule moved quicker than getting the nurse assigned so the first month or so I felt quite alone! I hope you have someone similar soon.
Will reflect and review impact on budget of our short trip to Eurovision later, but for today (my last day of 'holiday' from work and caring) I am going out for afternoon tea at a nice hotel in a national park near us with two schoolfriend of 30 years. We do this about twice a year, and this one is a combined birthday thing for all of us as they fall vaguely within this quarter! We have a voucher for 2 people so usually just go 3rds on the extra cost, so it won't be a NSD but won't break the bank either.
We got back very late last night so I woke up at my own house, a treat in its own right, even if I am on the sofa bed due to the extra short term lodger being here. Am just enjoying my second cuppa - have begun a new habit of using my new travel mug to make a second one at the same time as the first, it's so well insulated it stays warm for a couple of hours.
About to clean this house for an hour or so as we still don't have a cleaner arranged. Sadly I think the lovely person who usually does it is going to be not working for the foreseeable future. It's been welcome to save the money (she stopped at Xmas) and the girls are good at keeping it ok-enough, but the household does run more smoothly if the communal areas are done properly every so often, and that's worth quite a lot to me! My time here is so limited it would be nice to not have the house blitz hanging over me, so I also plan to follow up on a couple of cleaner recommendations.
Am going to take a few things back to my folks in the journey later today - I realised that move in day for the new flat is going to come around soon enough, and I might as well make the most of the car trips back and forth to move a few things. My house plants would be a good first thing to transfer as they are in need of a bit of extra tlc I think, and hopefully my dad might give me some advice on them!
It would also be good to progress the remaining DIY jobs at this house before the flat is ready, so I intend to take stock of those today and think about which require energy/time and which require money and which require both components.
So, better pull myself together ...
10-11 house blitz to a podcast
11-12 enjoy a bath and get ready
12-1240 do a couple of hopefully quick finance frog jobs and take stock of DIY list for the house.
Holiday washing is already on the line, 🇺🇦D was very on the ball about us putting that in on the cheap rate wash overnight when we got home at 1am!8 -
Good morning,
brand new day. Started well and hopefully keeps going well. Learnt from my stupid W0wcher mistake and wrote it off (while still trying to see if by the off chance I get sth back, but not holding breath). Did some weeding last night and then just lazed in bed and read. Feeling more focused and productive today. Got some gardening planned for tonight again as that feels good. DH will be back tonight, and so will temptation, I will stay strong.

Good news, after persisting and trying res0lver, w0wcher refunded my money as credit. So this time I ordered the greenhouse correctly and will then delete any account with them. They also gave me a £5 goodwill gesture that they manage to take off for a VIP membership that I did not choose. The first time this didn't happen. Sly...DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/259

Starlight - Thank you. I do feel fine today. I have a dedicated Breast Cancer Nurse and she is lovely. I've phoned her a few times and she's always sorted things out/ explained things to me. I am looked after by a multi disciplinary team. Lots of specialist so we get the big picture. Inevitably things will sometimes be confusing but I know everything is being done for the best possible reasons.
So today:- Walked to the shops
- Himself bought me two bunches of lilies. I love seeing what colour they are when they start to bloom
- Making Chicken Swarma Kebabs for dinner. That's my first new recipe
- Himself has arranged to meet a friend next Wednesday after my hospital appointment. I'll tag along for a little bit. He really needs to start getting out a bit again and not feeling that he has to be with me all the time
- The Boy is popping into see me shortly
- Three quarters of the way through book number 3
- Got the lovely news that my neighbour's daughter is pregnant. Seems only yesterday that I was babysitting her and brother as toddlers

Evening turtles
Didn't post yesterday but had a small spend of £3 on a coffee, bit unnecessary but it was calling to me after a stressful day! I went to boxing class so also paid for that as well. First time since I got tennis elbow in February!
Today was a NSD, work was absolutely crazy so kept me very busy. I received an expenses payment so sent most of that money to my credit card to pay off said expenses. Have been to spinning class this evening, I initially cancelled because of work but re-booked it even though I didn't want to go, I enjoyed it in the end so am glad I went after all.
I have a few days off work next week, but I didn't manage to quite finish everything today due to dealing with something really urgent, so I may have to log on quickly tomorrow to sort it out.7
