My gas (14,200kwh) and electricity (3,300 kwh) use is pretty spot on for 4 bed detached house, just the cost is way out since we were fortunate enough to lock in on the August 2021 Octopus energy 2 year fix.
My one neighbour is apparently using 8200 kwh electricity and 32,000 kwh of gas for a 3 bed semi!!!! No idea how accurate that is, but in fairness 1.) They do run a small beauty salon business from there & 2.) My neighbours currently in the middle of hacking the render off his walls and looms like he's "tanking" the wall (applying black stuff - almost like the old damp proof course you'd get injected in the wall), before reapplying what looks like cement on top - possible damp issues, which might explain the insane gas use?0 -
Complete nonsense. They say that they are getting their information from ‘trusted industry partners’. My estimated electricity use is out by a factor of 5. They claim 4000kWh/year: I take 800kWh/year from the Grid!1

They will probably want to see the walls insulated - Not a bad thing, as it will save on heating, but push the cost up.Tanking a wet wall is just going to stop the moisture getting out on one side - If he has already tanked the walls internally, the brickwork is going to stay damp. A damp wall is a cold wall. It needs time to dry out.

Interesting results, correctly shows we don't use much electric due to solar panels so we're 72% lower than neighbours but then bizarrely our carbon footprint is higher.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0

We viewed a house at the weekend and always have a look at the moneysupermarket link. If there are other houses the same design we note down their street numbers down as well and run them through the mystical energy calculator as well as getting their EPC.
Bit of fun really but likely it's only the 1% that know this sort of thing exists.0
