One house has has a ridiculous elec usage of 71K, no way is that true, 17k Gas. MSE version has the same data source.

Another house, An old lady i think, 1,500 For both Gas and Elec.

Interesting.  Ours is nearly correct, they just don't have an option for Octopus Tracker.  Usage is correct since reductions last year.

One newer house just down the road, built in 2021, they had no data at all - not even fuel type.

Another house actually had this disclaimer:
"We've used industry average data to show your supplier and tariff details. Please change them if you think they're wrong."
(It said 2,900kWh/yr electricity, unlikely in an old house with no central heating and no gas.)

An interesting tool for sure, but there's definitely some inaccuracies with the data. They've got my usage 25% out and have the wrong supplier/tariff info on mine, but perhaps that's preferable in case of any nosy neighbours wanting to eye up my energy use.

Edit: Even more interestingly, they appear to have some of my neighbours listed on impractically low usages of 2-400kWh per year, while others are more than double my own despite living in very similar properties. I've no idea how close to reality their numbers are, but it is interesting that there's such variation just within the boundary of this one block, whether that's their data or the actual differences in use is anyone's guess.
    Moo…

If you use the data with the freely available EPC ratings it makes for interesting reading you can work out who is on what fuel and rough usage.

Far too much info imo but certainly fun to look at.

Mine might be about right for a year ago but its mostly wrong. Thankfully there are people monitoring what can be available. Google maps could use it , so you just hover over your street and see it all quickly.

With a postcode and a house number you can see anybody's energy consumption!
My neighbour is using 26.6k kWh of gas!? 3 people in a 4 bed modern detached, something amiss? £12k energy bill!?
Sorry just bored on a Sunday but I thought it might be of use for those that don't know how much energy they use.
My parents sadly do use that amount. Realistically, most people use 20K in a 1930s terraced house but my mum likes to have the heating on way too high for my liking

It doesn't even recognise my postcode, says it's not a real postcode. Hopeless!

Apparently my neighbour on one side uses just under 1MWh a year of electric and no gas. That might be true, they have a wood burner and like to be as 'off the grid' as possible. The other side has 7MWh of electricity and 1kWh of gas. I know they've had some boiler trouble but I hope for their sake it's wrong.

Mine is right. We dramatically cut our usage over the last 6 months and that's reflected here, it's pretty much the exact figure Octopus put on the last bill for the annual estimate.
