I have just downloaded these and successfully signed up and linked my smart meter. Hugo and Loop are showing my data but Bright is still in the process of getting my data.
I notice that whilst Hugo and Loop linked directly via my MPAN, Bright asked me to enter a code from my IHD. I guess they all get to the same source for my data.
Does anyone have any information on the particular merits of each of these apps?
I am a bit of a gadget person and don't have any particular goal in mind. Perhaps I will be able to further refine my usage management to drive down my consumption.
They all access the same data, they all report it in a similar way, it comes down to personal preference on the interface and layout.
This. I personally quite like the Bright app to see exactly how much energy you're using even when you're not there. Equally it's the most "up to date" if you've got the corresponding hardware.
I quite like the Loop app primarily for the UI of it too
Thanks, i thought if you bought it, it would be "real time" or maybe i' wrong...
If you buy the £70 IHD/CAD it is as near real-time as you will get. I have the Octopus Mini (free) that updates the Octopus App every 10 seconds for electricity and every 30 minutes for gas - that is, it is similar to an IHD but via an App. The Mini takes its data from the HAN and transmits the data via the Internet to the Octopus Cloud server. The App updates from the Cloud.
I've requested one of those though they're normally necessarily the easiest to get
My Bright app has now resolved the double charge on Sunday usage problem I was having and has been applied retrospectively. Not sure what the issue was that was causing it.
Do any of these Apps allow access to your Exported energy ( solar) ? They usually ask for you import MPAN.
Hugo have said this will happen in a future updated version but so far haven't given any timeline for that functionality, although I know they are working on supporting Octopus tariffs aka flux....
