However both next door neighbours have heat pumps and the ones behind have GSHP.
I wonder if the neighbours opposite can hear a loud background hum. An orchestra of heat pumps.Life in the slow lane1 -

What is the answer when governments want us to stop burning fossil fuels?
I don't know the answer but maybe we have to get used to a different way of living. At least heat pumps are generally going to be working hardest when it is coldest and most of us are unlikely to be having windows wide open.1 -

Maybe make the most of the PP and add a few air cons to the application., I'm not entirely sure how long the permissions last.“Don't raise your voice, improve your argument." - Desmond Tutu
System 1 - 14 x 250W SunModule SW + Enphase ME215 microinverters (July 2015)
System 2 - 9.2 KWp + Enphase IQ7+ and IQ8AC (Feb 22 & Sep 24) + Givenergy AC Coupled inverter + 2 * 8.2KWh Battery (May 2022) + Mitsubishi 7.1 KW and 2* Daikin 2.5 KW A2A Heat Pump2 -
It could be during a defrost cycle that the noise is at its highest. I had two Daikin A2A heat pumps and they got much louder during a defrost cycle and got progressively louder as they aged.1

I'm not sure if we will ever find out.
Right now I am tempted to forget it and cut my losses.
If I carry on with the planning application I could end up falling out with neighbours over it and I really don't want that.0 -

Obviously you don't need to be Sherlock Holmes given the details the OP has shared over various posts of what area they live etc but no need to give it all away instantly.
