    Morning all,

Food looks lovely as always @bubbs x

I bought some riced sweet potato in Aldi. It's a MW pouch and it's free bit haven't tried it yet. Also got some chickpea pasta which is high protein so might have that tonight instead of regular pasta.

We had thunder and torrential rain for about an hour yesterday then it cleared to be a nice evening. Think the rain will be back today and every day for the next week or so!! I am WFH as boss was due in Leeds today but cancelled at the last minute yesterday.

I was going to get up early and go for a run but talked myself out of it. I think I need it - not just for the exercise but for the MH benefits too. Maybe tomorrow....

    Food today:
B - puffed wheat, skimmed milk, banana - HEB, HEA, free
    L - poached egg, grilled bacon, spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes - P, S
    D - chicken and pesto pasta - P, 3, free
    HEA 2 - milk
Syns - skinny bar 3 plus 3 so 6 total

    Have a good day everyone,
    Coxy

That pouch of sweet potato sounds a good standby for a quick lunch @Coxy11. I think I'll look one out for the Slimmer of the Week basket and one for myself too.

Thanks for the info on the LM sausages @Bubbs but, to be honest, I'm just as happy with the Aldi ones. They're £1.35 regular price. The tarts looked good, like half a Scotch egg. 😋

We've not seen @SingleSue for a week or so. Is she on holiday perhaps? 🤔

I'm being very mse today. I was going to get something out of the freezer then remembered I had some LO beef from Sunday in the fridge. We're having that tonight with LO gravy from Hairy Bikers so all free (both syns and money😁).

    Today's EE plan-
B- HEB toast, HEA milk for drinks, bacon, fried egg (P), baked beans (F)
    L- JP (F), veggie chilli (P,S), cottage cheese (P), pickles (S)
D- beef (P), mash, LO gravy (F), cauli, broccoli, carrots, cabbages (S)
    Syns- maybe horseradish 1

    Hi all,

Woke up with the starting of a cold with sore throat, felt gradually worse as the day went on. As I was in work I had a subway salad for lunch, and overnight oats for breakfast.

I guess rather expectedly I heard my SW group has now closed, the two remaining groups don't really work with other commitments so not sure what I'm going to do. I plan  to weigh in a week tomorrow then try and work out what to do for the best. I don't really want to stop going, but we're a little rural so limited on local options that fit in.

Not sure i fancy eating this evening, but will have some fruit salad later.

    Morning all,

We had the chickpea pasta last night. Packet said to cook for 6-8 minutes - I can confirm that 6 minutes is enough. Once mixed with the chicken and pesto it started to mush up. I suppose if you want/need to eat more protein and fibre plus are GF then it's fine but I won't be buying again. There's one portion left as packet was 250g so I'll have that for a lunch sometime.

I ended up eating granola for lunch yesterday instead of the planned egg, bacon etc. then scoffed choc and crisps last night after dinner as DH was out so I binged watched Race Across the World (no spoilers!). Felt absolutely disgusted with myself come bedtime and definitely on the wagon today. Work is very odd right now. So much uncertainty and my anxiety is going overboard. Luckily I've been out everyday for a walk to the Post Office as Bay of E charity sales are little and often, so that does help. Need a new job so badly. Am looking but most want 3 days in the office and I don't think I can manage that tbh.

Another parcel to post today and I need plain quark for dinner - seems that Sainsbobs doesn't sell it so hoping Ts will have some.

    Food today:
    B - banana, poached egg, 1 x WM toast, mushrooms - free, P, 1/2 HEB, S
    L - crabsticks, LTL mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles - P, 0.5, S
D - creamy sausage pasta - new recipe from the SW app using SW sausages - free
    HEA - milk
    1/2 HEB - skinny bar

Sorry to hear about your group closing @annabanana82. Can you switch to online or at the very least keep posting on here. I know it's not the same but I hope we can help. Get well soon x

    Good MSE skills @maman!

    Have a good day everyone.

Sorry I have been quiet for a while - I hope everyone is well.

@annabanana82 Sorry to hear about your group closing.  It's the opposite here, whereby there's loads of groups, but only 2 that fit in with my life, Thursday evening or Saturday morning.

After last week's gain, I am really starting to think that I am wasting my money going to group and am considering going it alone again.  (I have tried that before, but it's hard to be disciplined).  My consultant is nice and has said plenty of times that she's here for me and we have chats about personal stuff.  But the cynic in me says that they just want you to keep coming back and paying the £5.95 every week.

Does anyone have any ideas please?

    Thank you. x

    Can I join in?

Been with SW for 2 and a half week but 3 WIs as I had to change from a Saturday to Wednesday and so far 4lb off

I knew for me it was going to be slow, I drink, so I use all my syns every day on Whisky. I am trying to cut that but its a challenge Im not 100% ready for

I dont have a huge lot to shift, Ive given myself a target of 18lb for October

Im finding it pretty easy it incorporate into the family meal times, if theres something they are having which Im not prepared to Syn, I just swap that element - like they had battered cod, I made myself an omelette , we all had the airfry hand cut chips

Because I dont want to Syn food, Im eating a lot of veg and eggs :) For someone who hates veg, I think Im doing really well. I dont do SP days as such but I do try to keep the carbs down and fill up on speed

And I thank the SW gods for allowing cheese as an HEA :)

I have the app and my books, fill my planner in every day. Slightly miffed that Lidl products are not well documented as I shop mostly there and other then their basic range, the app doesn't recognise near enough anything I scan, but there again, Lidl NI is different from UK so I suppose thats the reason there

Can I ask, is the magazine a good resource? Is it worth buying?

Exercise wise, Im a walker. Go out most days for between 2 and 4 miles. Signed up to park run so hope if the weather clears up this week to do my first one of those

Last night was my first cheat night. Came in from WI at 8:30, got the washing in, was just about to get my dinner - chicken and roasted veg, when we had a huge drama, so it was 11pm before I realised I hadn't eaten, so made a chicken and crisp sandwich!!!

And no, Im not even going to write that in the planner. New week starts today :)

Hey @Abbafan1972 I think most of us question whether to keep going at some point of the 'journey' - I know I have in the past. I think for me, the thing that kept me on track and accountable was the WI day every week. I have done it alone before but failed to stick to it, hence why I'm now at target for the 3rd time in 18 years! I worked out last night that this latest membership has cost me just shy of £300 as it took roughly a year but I bought some 12week CDs along the way. Not cheap, but I don't want to be paying again now I'm at target so that's my motivation. How far from target are you?

Welcome @Longwalker - good to have you with us! Great that you are able to syn whatever takes your fancy. Yes alcohol is annoyingly high - are you having a diet mixer with that to stretch the drink out? Annoying when the app doesn't list the product you are scanning - I don't shop in Lidl so can't comment on that, but I think you can put in the product credentials and it will give you an estimate of syns. Bit of a faff I know when standing with your trolley though!

I have bought the magazine in the past and sometimes get gifted a copy as I help my consultant with pay. They are good for motivational stories and recipes but tbh I use mostly the recipe books or the app for recipes so haven't bought one in a while.

  • So, I have a new plan, this week is holiday. I can't get to a group next week. But the following week I've blocked out 30 minutes in my work calendar to go to the morning group. I'm probably going to have to pay for missing next week annoyingly.

From there on, I shall either go to a different group on Wednesday or when work allows see my old consultant on her morning group and see how that works. So next WI 25/05.

Welcome @Longwalker I find SW great for adapting family meals, and can make most meals syn free. The magazines are okay, I rarely buy one but then I rarely buy any magazines. They do have some good recipes or inspirations stories if that works for you. But recipe wise there isn't much in the magazine that isn't free elsewhere.

I love parkrun, couch to 5k is also great if you need that

    Thanks for the welcome ladies

Yes I try to make my drinks last to stretch out with Diet Coke . Just got into the dreadful habit in lockdown of have a couple every night in the garden, or the bar hubby built in the garage, its a hard habit to break for sure but Im at least being mindful of how many Im having, rather then just constantly topping up

So I wont waste money on the magazines then

Im another who needs the discipline of the weigh in. Back in 99 I shifted over 2 stone using weight watchers and I kept it off for years , just popping back now and then when I felt it creeping back on. Just before lockdown I really had started to put it on, so I went back to WW - and hated it. Different country and group and different system - and then lockdown. I tried online - nope, hell they even offered me online free but I just couldn't stick with it. Its too easy to shy away from being honest with yourself. - well it is for me.

Menopause hasn't helped, and then injury had me laid up on the sofa for a few months so I thought best get back before the 18lb becomes the 2 stone again

Ive just bought a new frying pan, for eggs only. I refuse to use fry lite , I dont want to use syns unless I really have to , so a new pan to make my egg wraps. Also going to put on a pot of yoghurt, skimmed UHT and fat free live yoghurt as the starter - 1tbs to a litre makes it syn free. I strain some for thick yoghurt and then leave some to strain over night so its more like a cream cheese, makes a great base for trout or mackerel pate and hummus

Im in for a boozy weekend as the inlaws are stopping and they love a party. So Im planning ahead to keep me on plan as best I can
