Hi everyone from a wet Cumbria! We walked from Gretna Green to Carlisle yesterday and Carlisle to Calthwaite today. Weather was okay until
the last 3 miles today when we had to deploy ponchos over our backpacks.I’m on the right - freezing my bits off!Food is whatever we can find - tonight I’m having a greggs sweet corn fritter and rice combo! Step count is over 30k each day so hopefully breaking even.Take care all xxCross-stitch WIP: HSC Jingle Bells Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 05/25 Currently reading The last letter from your lover by Jojo Moyes1 -
Evening all, been a busy day - think the packing is finally finished!
Hope it went well for your dad @ruby_eskimo at the hospital. Enjoy whatever you end up eating. Hopefully you can find something a bit SW friendly at your folks if you don't make it home for dinner.
Welcome @slm6002 to the thread. Glad you decided to join us. Look forward to seeing how you get on once you get started. A stone by the summer is a good target to aim for.
Hope you didn't get too wet @Coxy11 - the weather has been absolutely awful here too.
I've checked the menu for the restaurant we're going to (the only one on the Island I've not tried!). It has great reviews. I'm having a fairly SW friendly meal, assuming they have everything available on the menu! I'm going to have a starter of AMT (Avocado, mozzarella and tomato) and main of sea bass with mixed vegetables cooked on the grill.

Have a lovely time @joedenise, both at the restaurant and on your holiday. A much belated Happy Anniversary! 💐
Welcome @slm6002, sorry but I missed your post earlier. You obviously know the plan but do ask if there's anything you need to know. Are you going to join a group? 🤔
I think I'd be heading for the nearest pub that does food @Coxy11 after a day in the cold and rain! You're making good progress. 👍3 -
Thank you @maman, no I don't plan to join a group as I cant deal with the weekly shame if I put on. There has only been 1 lady that I felt ok with when I stayed to group but unfortunately her sessions are when I work. I just need to plan meals and increase my stamina to stick to plan. I have recently started up some exercise and re learnt to ride a bike. Hopefully I can get out on it which will help.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

slm6002 said:I am following along as a suggestion from @joedenise on my own diary. I am yet to begin as I have some meals out and chocolate still to disappear, but come Monday the new school term starts and so will my challenge on here. I have been a member of SW many times and been successful a few times. After a lot of things having gone on I think my head is finally in the right place to do this. Morning all, it's fairly bright this morning but quite windy but rain forecast for later. Just the very last minute stuff still to be packed - DH has just been prescribed a new inhaler so that can't go in until after he's used it in the morning.
Enjoy meeting up with your friend and getting some great bargains from the Company Shop.
The meal was really lovely last night although it's not the cheapest of restaurants so definitely somewhere to use again but for special occasions rather than just because we want to eat out for some reason! We'll stick to Spoons for those meals
So today's plan:
B - porridge with grated apple and cinnamon - HEB; S; F
L - part baked cheese and spring onion roll - HEA2; S; 11
D - meatballs in tomato sauce, pasta - P; S; F
HEA1 - milk
HEA2 - cheese
Syns - baguette 7.5; butter 3.5
I'm pretty sure that wifi will be patchy whilst we're away so will probably just be reading as and when I can but not posting!
See you all in a couple of weeks.
