    Morning everyone,

    Welcome back @Jellybaby :)
I can sympathise with the roadworks @joedenise - I have the pleasure of them every time I go to see my DSis and Mum.

DH went to DS1's to help with a DIY project yesterday and I stayed home and did some gardening. Weeded the front garden and cut back some bushes, then planted a couple of plants in the back garden. I also did the bathrooms and 4 loads of washing. I ended up doing some needlework in the afternoon - in case you think my middle name is Cinderella. I also applied for a job!

Food was pretty terrible yesterday but I did have the SC on for a new sweet and sour pulled pork recipe from the July mag, which wasn't very nice at all. Unfortunately there's some left for today so hoping DH and DS2 might eat it for lunch (DH liked it, but then again he eats anything).

WFH today and food will be:
    B - poached egg, 1 x WM toast, spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms - P, 1/2 HEB, S
    L - drain cleaner soup, ryvita dark rye x 4 - S, 6
    D - peanut butter chicken pasta - 1
    HEA - milk
1/2 HEB - hi fi bar
    Syns - 7

Morning all.  Got back from Norway on Saturday and have been trying to play catch up on sleep and washing ever since.  Had an absolutely amazing time, weather was glorious and despite not really thinking about what I was eating too much, managed to lose half a pound 🤯🤣.  Think that was mainly due to all the walking we did, both on the ship and on land and well over 10k steps a day!  Couple of pics of Briksdal Glacier and Skjolden that I took (nothing looked real, my brain is still processing all the beauty we saw)

Back to earth now so to speak and back to the wonderful world of work.  Have had some weetabix for breakfast, lunch is going to be some carrot soup from the freezer (it's really grey and dreary here today) with some picky salad bits on the side and dinner is mushroom risotto again with some mixed leaves.

Hope everyone is doing well, hugs to those that need them and well done to the losers.

    Morning all,

Sounds an amazing holiday @ruby_eskimo and pics are fab. Well done on the loss too!
    Belated happy birthday @b@beanielou

Day off today with airport run shortly to collect DS1. He’s been travelling since Sunday night our time and gone through several time zones for connections so sounding a bit grouchy from his texts 🤣

Was great to be back on plan yesterday but feeling really heavy and bloated. Will increase water again see if that helps.

I’ve had fruit and yoghurt for breakfast, lunch will probably be tuna salad sandwich and I’m not sure what the plans are for dinner. We may go out as DS1 wants to see my DB before he leaves, if not there’s chilli or bolognaise in the freezer.

    Have a good day all!

Afternoon all, been a busy morning with taking my friend and her dogs to the station and then doing the round of the supermarkets to get most of the shopping for September - bit earlier than usual but the money's there so might as well do it while we're out and about but only got home a short while ago and just sitting down with a coffee before starting on lunch!

Glad you had a good holiday @ruby_eskimo and well done of half lb loss, that's brilliant.  The photos are amazing.

    Today's plan:

    B - eggs on toast - HEB; P
    L - stuffed mushrooms - S; F; HEA2
    D - fish, chips and peas - P; F

    HEA1 - milk
    HEA2 - cheese
    HEB - bread
Syns - probably a couple of chewy bars this evening.

Will make up for the lack of speed with some fruit and yoghurt later on.

    Have a good day everyone.

I wonder if I can ask for opinions please.  I want to join SW.  I did join many years ago when it was red and green days- from looking on the website I think that has now changed.  Anyway, I have found a class on a Friday morning which would suit me.  I can go this Friday 1st and the following Friday 8th, but then I am on holiday for a week so would have to miss a week and then go on 22nd.  So, do I join on this Friday go for two meetings then take a holiday (I assume you get holiday weeks?).  OR would it be better to just leave it and join on the 22nd?  What do you think?

The holiday is at a hotel, so I won't be able to cook or prepare my own meals.

    Thanks all.

    Hello @MrsPorridge. 😊

It's a long time since SW was red and green but if you still have your books and/or can remember the plan it would still work. You could start now go it alone until after your holiday. That's one option.

If you join straight away, depending on how much you have to lose, you could see really big losses in the first couple of weeks. Then you take a holiday. Unlike @ruby_eskimo (🤣), most of us see a gain after a holiday so you could be back to square one.

Personally, I'd perhaps wait rather than feel guilty enjoying whatever the hotel offers in food and drink. Use the next two weeks to eat up stuff from the freezer and cupboards that's not SW friendly (usually high calorie, processed foods) and then you'll be ready to start on your return. 🤔

I started SW when it was red and green and the current Extra Easy is far simpler. Put very briefly it's one third lean protein, one third carb, and at least one third veg all cooked simply (without loads of cream or oil) and 2 small portions of dairy (milk or cheese) and one of wholemeal bread or equivalent each day. Treats are built in as syns for things like biscuits, sweets, alcoholic drinks etc. Just ask if you want examples of syn values.

Whatever you decide, you've made the right decision to get back to healthy eating and a healthy weight. Do join the thread if you want to. 😊

@MrsPorridge - I'd join this week - no point in putting it off.  You'll have a chance to lose a few lbs before your holiday which if you didn't go you wouldn't do!  In fact if you leave it until after your holiday you'll probably have a few extra pounds to lose!  As you'll be in a. hotel it will give you the confidence to choose a little more wisely than you otherwise would do.

You are allowed 6 weeks holiday per year.  I'm not sure if you know but if you buy a block of weeks you get 6 weeks for the price of 5 but need to say you need 2 weeks holiday at the time otherwise you end up having to pay for those weeks!  Or you can buy a block of 12 weeks for the price of 10 but again need to book your holiday dates at the time of taking it out.

I just knew @MrsPorridge would end up with different views @joedenise ! 😁 It's making the decision that matters. I've been out today and seen so many overweight people. I'm so pleased I decided I didn't want to be one of them. 👍

Very well done on your loss after your cruise @ruby_eskimo. 👏👏👏 You obviously had a good time and saw amazing scenery.

I do hope the family ate up the pork @Coxy11. It's annoying when a recipe doesnt work out especially with expensive ingredients. ☹️

Hope your DS gets back safe and sound @Jellybaby and he wasn't messed about by air traffic control on top of his long journey.

    Today's EE plan -
B- HEB porridge, HEA milk, berries (S), banana (F)
    L- ham, egg (P), fried veg and pickles (S), 1 potato (F)
D- salmon (P), SW chips (F), spicy cauliflower, tomatoes, mushrooms, green stuff (S)
    Syns - 0

@maman and @joedenise thank you both for your views!  Guess what?  I'm still undecided.  I see the wisdom of both - use up the SW unfriendly foods I have, enjoy the holiday and then striaght into it or start now and weigh less than I would do after the holiday :)
