@bubbs - Have to admit I don't like fresh corn on the cob very much - it always seems to be very tough!  I've never heard of cooking it in the oven before.  I much prefer the frozen mini cobs which I microwave for 6 minutes, then drain and put a teaspoon of butter on it and back in the microwave for a few seconds to melt it so that's for 2 syns for 2 cobs so just 1 syn for each of us - well worth it and then plenty of black pepper!

Glad you enjoyed your fish and chips @maddiemay. That's what we had in Poole for our wedding anniversary a couple of weeks ago . I enjoyed every bit. It's seems even better as a very occasional treat than having it regularly. DH fetched it as a take out for my birthday during lockdown and we've had it over the years at the seaside, such as Lyme Regis, Weymouth and Brighton eating al fresco in paper. All memorable and delicious.😋

I’ve not only fallen off the wagon, I’ve taken it to the woods, set fire to it and used the insurance money to buy takeaways 🙈😂(as the saying goes)
I need a good kick up the proverbial. OH took me to the Food Warehouse today and they had the most fantastic selection of SW frozen stuff, including all the new bits. I’ve just had the bangers and mash ready meal and it was really nice- I particularly enjoyed the gravy.
The fridge, freezer and cupboards are full and my bank account is empty 😂back on it this week. I’m going away a week Monday so I’m going to try and go to my consultant’s other group on my way to the station, literally just to weigh and go so I can pacify myself before I once again fall spectacularly off the wagon 😂😂

    Morning all,

I too am not overly fond of corn on the cob - gets stuck in my teeth and no good for my stomach!! Much prefer the baby corn and didn't know it was speed so thank you @maman!!

I love fish and chips too but rarely have it as can't take fried food - just disagrees with me so much. Glad you enjoyed it @maddiemay x

Don't worry about burning the wagon @MrsRyan! We've all done it! Sounds like you've stocked up nicely for the foreseeable.

I'm off to WI shortly - don't think I've lost anything despite the drain cleaner soup and more cabbage with dinner last night. I had a peppermint tea after dinner as stomach was a bit gurglie! We shall see..... :)

Morning all,  that made we LOL @Coxy11!  Hope the peppermint tea helped.

We all fall off the wagon @Mrs_Ryan from time to time, seems like you've drawn the line and jumped over it and all stocked up for the coming week.  Glad you enjoyed the SW ready meal.  I've only tried a couple of them and haven't been impressed so not really bothered with them since.  I didn't mind the chips but for some reason DH wasn't keen so I've just carried on making my own - still at least they're much cheaper!

Don't think we'll be going out anywhere this weekend but may get out and have a walk along the seafront into the next village and have a coffee or something stronger a bit later on!

    Today's plan:

    B - fry up - P; S; F; 2
L - toasted cheese sandwich; pickles, tomatoes from garden - HEA2; HEB; S
    D - butter chicken, rice - P; S; F; 3

    HEA1 - milk
    HEA2 - cheese
    HEB - bread
    Syns - sausages 2; butter 3; maybe a couple of G&Ts 6?

    Have a good day everyone.

I remember going to a training centre where nuns did the catering and they served up cabbage soup @Coxy11. It was revolting! 🤣 I like cabbage but not like that. I generally have 2 or 3 on the go at once and mix them up.

Hope you got out for your walk @joedenise. It's been a strange day here. Some really torrential showers but we've managed to dodge them. Been to football and managed a scrappy win. 👍

    Today's EE plan -
B- HEB toast, HEA milk for drinks, bacon, egg (P), baked beans (F)
    L- JP (F), prawns (P), salad (S)
    D- chicken jambalaya (P, F, S)
Syns - mayo 2, half Crunchie 3, weekend wine 😁

    Evening all

Mrs R , you are back on the gravy train now and that's all that matters

Had our haircut today, i said to DH shall we nip over company shop while we are half way there 😂 so off we toddled, didn't get much got some cooked chicken, like deli chicken 75p the price on the packs were 2 for £5. Seafood sticks 35p a pack, big tuns ff greek yog 50p 😁😁😁😁😁😁 they have not had any for ages and ages, anchor butter £1.25 a block, for my friend, 6pk wotsits for my friend 60p, fill a bag of sweet potatoes £1 , whole large chicken £3 that's all i got.

Called in and see Mum on the way back, she looked so tired and said she got her tablets out last night, put them on her side table by the sofa and then i must have nodded off 😂 woke up at 1!! took her tablets and went bed and didn't get up till 9.45 😂 i said well , there is no hurry to get up so don't matter.

I forgot to say in the week she sorted a shelf out in dad's wardrobe , old t-shirts he wore in the garden, but found a brand new mobile phone all sealed, orange network, she said i don't know where that came from and must be years old as orange! Weird thing is dad NEVER used the phone, not even house phone, the only time i have known him on the phone was in the home the first time and he spoke to mum on my sisters phone as he wanted his shoe horn 🥰

We had a heavy shower on the way back from mum's but been a glorious afternoon here.

    Food today

    Fruit and yoghurt

Pitta pizza hexa and b, bns chips and salad

Unfortunately didn't get out for a walk as DH didn't feel up to it - his knees are really playing him up at the moment and he's having to walk with a stick.  He can't take either of the pain killers the GP prescribed as they cause his problems so has to put up with the pain.  He's waiting for an MRI which hopefully he should get a date for in the next week or two as the hospital he'll be going to have got a 4 week wait and he's been waiting about 2 weeks so far.
