@beanielou congrats on the lost pound, sounds like you are having a lovely birthday week to look forward to.
@bubbs your food pictures are lush, as usual.
@Coxy11 thank you for the Stroganoff recipe I will add it to my list.
@joedenise I hope the chutney is successful, sounds yummy.
@maman looking forward to reading what you enjoyed at lunchtime.

STS the same this evening, we will be on holiday for a fortnight in a few weeks time, need to stay on track and possibly drop another pound or so to offset the certain temptations.

  • Hi all,

Tried to catch up but thoroughly exhausted. I'm on holiday this week and completely off plan but just going with it. I've waited 2 years to have chips on the sea front so no regrets.

I was hoping the increase in activity would balance the food and couple of pints, but we'll see.

We walked part of the SW coastal path today, roughly 8 miles of uneven terrain and lots of hills. My phone suggests we've walked 14.5 miles today - it feels like more! I really hurt!

Tomorrow is more sedate, trip on a tram and maybe a Devon cream tea, then a catch up with an old friend.

Morning all, the final day of dry weather according to the forecast so have finished the washing off today!  Machine load out on the line and blowing very slightly in the breeze so hopefully should be dry by the time I get back from group.

Sounds like you're enjoying your holiday @annabanana82 even if it's very tiring.  Enjoy your cream tea later today and catching up with your old friend.

Not holding my breath for a loss today but hoping it's a half off which according to my scales it is but I thought that last week!

    Today's plan:

    B - mushroom omelette - P; S
    L - toasted cheese sandwich, pickles - HEA2; HEB; S
    D - toad in the hole, potatoes, veg - S; F; 6.5

    HEA1 - milk
    HEA2 - cheese
    HEB - bread
    Syns - flour 4.5; sausages 2

Back later with what the scales of doom say!

    Have a good day everyone.

Back from group and surprisingly it was a full lb off which puts me half lb inside target range!  Don't want to have to worry before going to have my eye op done in a couple of weeks time so have decided I won't be going to WI for at least the next 3 weeks!  Hopefully I can stay within target range and hopefully even lose a bit more by then.

    Hi all,

    Well done on a STS @maddiemay x

Glad you’re enjoying your holiday @annabanana82 – the SWCP is on our list to do as part of our JoGLE hike. I know it’s challenging as I’ve read The Salt Path by Raynor Winn. Might change our plans when the time comes 😊

Good luck at WI @joedenise x

I’m in the office today. Brought in food – overnight oats, freezer surprise (more chicken curry!) and some melon which I’ve had to bin as it’s past it’s best ☹ I have bought some pineapple from the canteen which just cost me £2 which I think is a bit steep for a subsidised canteen (but then again, I am particularly stingy!) Even the grapes were £2 though so it’s clearly not reflective of labour intensity! I have a peanut hifi bar for the train journey home. Dinner tonight is burger in a bowl which DH will construct 😊

DD has an interview today for her first proper job – working with teenagers with autism. Not sure it’s the role for her but good experience of interviewing nonetheless. I am in the process of completing my VR forms which need to be in for next week Wednesday. Will be leaving on 30 November. I just need to make sure that I don’t apply for another role under the Civil Service Compensation Scheme within 6 months, which I think means NHS and local government are okay? If anyone knows, please can you advise TIA.

WI on Saturday and I’d love to be back in target range if possible. I go back to Lancaster on Friday 1 September to continue my JoGLE hike with DSis – this time Arkholme to Crewe along rivers and canal paths which should be a fun 9 days 😊 It seems to have come around really quickly but I guess that’s because we’ve been entertaining DDad all Summer.

@Coxy11 - I'm surprised it's only 6 months until you can reapply for a CS role.  When I took VR back in the late 90s it was a year for AAs and AOs and equivalent and 2 years for EO and above and equivalent.  I actually temped in the CS for 2 years as thought that's how long I needed to be out but apparently as a Personal Secretary I only needed to be out for one year!

Good luck for WI on Saturday to be back in target and then you won't have to worry during your walk and will have time to shift any excess on your return.

You must have been typing when I posted just before you to say I lost a lb and am back in target range!  Won't be going for at least 3 weeks now - ie 2 weeks after I have my left eye done.

    Afternoon all

Coxy- LG and NHS should be fine. I know with the NHS they’re definitely two separate entities as 4 years into my CS service I’m still trying to get my NHS pension from when I was nursing transferred over! I have given up now.

Sorry I’ve been AWOL. Work has been insane. I’m still on a phased return so I’m only doing 5 hours instead of 7 but I feel like banging my head off the wall!

Frustration has crept in these last couple of days and I’ve fell off the wagon a bit. I only managed to lose 0.5 this week and I had to resort to drastic measures for that! I was really upset as I had tried so hard again. I had unfrozen my gym membership with every intention of going after work but I’m so tired that I’ve just frozen it again. I can’t even go walking as I need to keep my tattoo out of the sun, and it’s too warm to cover it up. I’ve done a few walking workouts but again I don’t have the energy to do them more regularly.

I had fish, chips and mushy peas with cheese topped cobs followed by a bar of Dairy Milk on Monday night after WI and the remainder of the cobs for lunch yesterday. The fish was lighter battered fish from the Co-op and the chocolate was a 5 syn ‘little bar’ so not as bad as it could be- but line is drawn. Back on it.

    Today’s menu:
B: Chocolate orange overnight oats (HEXB+ 2.5) decaf coffee (2.5 for milk and syrup)
    L: Mackerel, rice (2.5) veg
    D- Feta stuffed peppers (HEXA’s x 2) couscous (0.5) salad
S: WW wrap with ham salad (5.5) Skinny Bar (4)
    Syns: 17.5

Hope all okay with everyone xx
