Glad things are getting sorted @bubbs . Do keep an eye on the BP, if the readings are erratic they may put him on a 24hr monitor which whilst a PITA are invaluable for diagnosing high BP, white coat syndrome is all too real. Ive been on meds for high BP for 40 years - diagnosed in my 20s
Still the meds have come on leaps and bounds and rarely come with side effects nowadays, I forget I have it now, But it is the silent killer so diet and weight are important as well as not smoking ( I managed to quit completely about 10 years now )
And great that the care situation is getting sorted@joedenise , thats the colour I got, wasnt quite deep enough. I usually do them as dark as you would for fried onions in the pan but it just wasnt happening and I just didnt have any more time - I gave them about 30 mins. Still its all a learning curveStayed on track today other then two pitas instead of one so Im hoping that doesn't come back to haunt me on the scales tomorrow0 -
Morning all,
I do not like this new look forum.
Good that you've started the process for your op @joedenise x
Great that the care is getting sorted for DDad @bubbs and that DH saw the GP. Make sure he rests up! Your routine will be out now he doesn't need taking to work!
DH in London today and DDad has a friend visiting who will take him for lunch. I usually go into the office on a Wednesday but given DH is out I will WFH. It's a shorter week for me as I'm taking DDad to Kensington Palace on Friday.
Food will be:
B - All Bran, strawberries, blueberries, mullerlight vanilla - HEB, S, 0.5
L - Omelette with mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes - P, S
D - chicken pesto pasta - HEA for parmesan, 4.5 for single cream/pesto
HEA - milk
Syns - hi fi bar plus 5 so 8 total
Have a good day all.Cross-stitch WIP: Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 11/25 Currently reading The Cliff House by Amanda Jennings0 -
Morning all, that's absolutely brilliant news @bubbs that your dad can stay where he is and that the funding is in place for it - great that the manager and nurse stuck up for him against the social worker.
I'm going to WI this morning and according to my scales I am definitely out of target - by about 1.5 lb but will see what the SW scales say later but hopefully I'll get a grace week. No doubt I'll need to pay for a few weeks to shift that with my .5lb a week losses!
Today's plan:
B - mushroom omelette - P; S (will take a bar of some sort to Group)
L - tuna mayo and cucumber sandwich - HEB; P; S; 1
D - sticky thyme and mustard bacon chops, mash, green veg - P; S; F; 1.5
HEA - milk
HEB - bread
Syns - LTL mayo 1; marmalade 1; mustard 0.5
Will pop back later after after I've been to WI and let you know how near (or far) my scales are compared to group!
Have a good day everyone.

Hi all, long time no post. Had a quick whizz through the posts and wanted to say welcome back @maman and good to hear your dad's placement is continuing @bubbs.
Have been feeling a bit all over the place recently with food / eating / exercise and star week didn't help. Still feeling so bloated and no idea what's causing it 😔 so feeling generally very meh. My dad's had his drain removed this week so that's good and now just an MRI in a few weeks and then we're set for surgery in early September. He's having his pre-op when I'm away so he has to take my mum with him 😳😆
17 years ago I went on my first date with DH and he's a big softy so wants to take me out for dinner to celebrate. No idea where we're going but he said "it isn't that fancy" - no idea what I'm supposed to do with that information! So will be back on plan tomorrow as only 5 and a bit weeks till we're on our cruise!

I wondered where you'd got to @ruby_eskimo, I thought it was too soon for your cruise. Have a good time on your 'date night'. It's only one meal and then you can get back to your normal eating. I'm not surprised you're feeling meh as you've had a lot on lately, especially all the toing and froing with your dad. It's good news that there's a plan laid out.
DH and I got married on the same date that we first met so easy to remember the date! 😁 Incidentally @Longwalker, how long ago since you fitted into your wedding dress?🤔
🤞🏿 it doesn't take you too long to get back into target @joedenise. Checking the diary, we're out to eat twice next week. One will fall before WI and the other in grace week so I don't think I'll be back to target any time soon. I'll keep plodding. 😉
It will be very different having your DH at home @bubbs. Will that curtail your bargain hunting? 🤔
Kensington Palace is on my list for next time I get to London @Coxy11 but I also want to go to Windsor Castle. I've been to Windsor loads of times but never inside the castle. Do you know if they do an annual ticket that takes you to the Royal Palaces? I need to check as I'm sure they used to do one. 🤔
Today's EE plan-
B- HEB porridge, HEA milk, banana (F), berries (S)
L- Spanish omelette (F,P,S), salad bits (S)
D- chicken casserole (F,P,S), cauli, broccoli, cabbages (S)
Syns- cornflour 10 -
@maman Historic Royal Palaces do an annual membership for singles, joint or families:

This covers Kensington Palace, Kew Palace, Hampton Court Palace, Tower of London, Banqueting House and Hillsborough Castle.
We are also going to Buckingham Palace in August which isn't covered by this ticket as run by Royal Collection Trust, like Windsor Castle.

Welcome back @ruby_eskimo, sorry to hear you're feeling meh but as @maman says you've had a lot on your plate recently. Enjoy your meal out and then back on plan straight after and you'll be fine. I'm sure you're really looking forward to your cruise.
My scales weren't quite right! I'm just a lb over target so hopefully shift that this week but if not should be able to do it in 2 weeks! I'm doing a food diary this week as I find that I tend to lose better when I fill out a paper diary rather than doing the online one for some reason! Not sure whether I'll hand it in or not - that rather depends on what the scales say next week! If the lb hasn't shifted then I will just to make sure I haven't done anything stupid with not having been doing things properly for the last 3 months!
I also got an Achievement Certificate - You're an Inspiration - 11 years Slim for Life! Can't believe it's been that long. Consultant then asked if I thought I'd make 12 years! Also got the booklet your slim through summer guide. Haven't had a chance to look through it yet but will do shortly.

That's not bad at all @joedenise. 👍 Like you, I find a paper diary works best. I write it in a notebook and don't hand it in. I'd have to fiddle the syns back to daily to make it look authentic! 🤣
Thanks for taking the trouble to post the links @Coxy11. A friend went to the Dressing the Georgians exhibition recently and said it was great. PreCovid I went to Buckingham Palace for an exhibition of the late Queen's clothes throughout her reign. We were able to go to the following year's exhibition too on the same ticket. It was worth it too see the building, artwork and grounds, the exhibitions were a bonus.1 -
