So I was told yesterday that my repayment had gone for security checks. However I spoke with the online people today and they said they can see no evidence of it going for checks as there would be a note on the account and there are none?

Has anyone worked for HMRC and know anything about this? He also said as I’m still in the ten day window it wouldn’t have gone to checks yet anyway. I’m so confused!
Perhaps you need to be a little more patient? You spoke with them yesterday and contacted online today?

HMRC is very stretched at the best of times - repeated contacts only adds to delays.
I’m sorry I fully appreciate this. I just panicked when it said security checks as my wife lost her job recently and we have four kids and have been relying on this payment coming to get the car fixed. Just been a rough few months and I’m quite an anxious person.

I’m just so worried about whether we will be able to get the car fixed and on another forum someone said they had been given wrong info so I thought I would check.

I guess I will know more next week. Thanks for replying.
Any luck this morning? Mine has changed from pending to issued
Nope still pending.  Looks like it’s deffo checks for us.
    It'll be issued this week
Ah I love your confidence but I’m deffo not hopeful!
    Any luck?
    Nope! Sadly not.

    Still pending?

I am stilll waiting for my refund. But if you look here: https://www.tax.service.gov.uk/guidance/HMRC-service-dashboard/start/HMRC-service-dashboard and scroll down to 'Refund from a Self Assessment Tax Return - Online Submission' it says:

    DELAYED SERVICE

We are currently processing requests received on 6 APRIL 2023.

If you sent your request after 6 April 2023, please do not contact us as it has not been processed yet.

However to protect customers against fraud HMRC has security measures in place which may cause a delay.

Please allow up to a further 4 weeks before contacting HMRC about your request.

As 6 April was the first day you could submit, they clearly have quite a backlog to deal with. So I will be patient!

    6th of April
  • That's potentially quite promising then. Hopefully we see some more similar feedback similar to this in the days ahead.
  • Anyone else still waiting from filing on 6th.
