  • Here's the recipe I tried - although I inadvertendly put too much whisky in. I didn't have camp, so dissolved some instant cofee in warm water, allowed it to cool and then added it to the mixture. It is gorgeous!

    ISLE OF ISLAY CREAM
    "Winemaker" Magazine, p.129, March 1982

    INGREDIENTS
14 fl. oz. (400 g) tin of condensed milk
8 fl. oz. of Scotch whisky
7 fl. oz. (250 ml) carton of UHT long-life single cream
6 fl. oz. (170 g) tin of evaporated milk (eg. "Ideal")
6 - 8 teaspoons of coffee essence (eg. "Camp")

(None of the amounts are critical, and the sizes of the tins and cartons have changed and/or been metricated since the recipe was originally published.)

    METHOD
Pour all the ingredients into a 2 pint (1 litre) jug or bowl. Use the whisky to wash out all of the thicker ingredients from their containers. Mix. Pour. Drink.
  • Hi

Took a bit of finding this one but I would like to have an alcohol free January. I would like to start on the first as I do seem to like a tipple a bit too much these days.

    me too.

I'm looking forward to hogmanay so much, but that's going to be it for me!!!

I've even got my birthday in Jan (with my two best mates) but I don't care; I want to save the money and become a little bit healthier.

I've done it before (May till October without a drop) and it's actually not that hard to do; it just feels like it will be; (obv. this does not apply to alcohol addiction :o )

and, fingers crossed, that will lay the path to quitting the smokes too.

I'll be back on this thread for some moral support methinks :)

  • Hi a_a

Done the smokes 1 month ago now. Found it quite easy actually. Doing that has made me realise there are other vices I need to get rid off and the drink one is one that has been bothering me now for a good few years.

Roll on Tuesday. Working as well so that will help

    Good luck to us all.

I did the drinking thing last January, and believe me I drank, In 10 years there was not 1 weekend when I wasn't drunk so it was quite a habit I had, I quit and haven't drank since.. It was hard for the 1st couple of weeks but it got easier,

Smoking and then drinking. This time next year we will be in a convent/Priory :rotfl: :rotfl:

Going to feel better for it though.
