Mary43 - please don't feel guilty your decluttering didn't go to plan this week! There's always next week. My goodness, you didn't get it cluttered up in a day so do expect time to 'de-clutter' it!

Well not so much of a declutter today more of a didnt reclutter! DS1 brought back a portable tv we had lent him but we realy didnt need it, dont have a tv in the bedroom I'd only fall asleep watching it:rolleyes: but a friend called in for a coffee said her kids tv was playing up so it went to a new home:j We have one of those perspex instead of glass greenhouses so today has mainly been spent making sure panels dont take flight! Wind starting to die down now thank goodness. Hope everyone else is having a good day0

... Making my cards brought to light the fact I have far too much stuff and it needs thinning out a bit so I'll make a package up and send it to the care home Mums in so they can use them for the card making acitivity there. ...
This is such a good idea. My sis and I take things to the care home where mother is. They were really grateful for coat hangers, hair rollers and general hairdressing kit (two of the care home staff took over when the regular hairdresser let them down) as well as china tea services, coloured card and even some clothes we were getting rid of - they have some residents who have no family and very few possessions so can always find a home for a warm sweater or cardi... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Never thought of anything else like that rosieben..........have to check with the staff first to see what they needed.
They have a bingo morning and the lady who runs it has very little funding to get prizes (all the players get something -normally bar of chocolate, small tin of fruit putting etc.) and I collected a load of bits and pieces, mainly toiletries, that were unused and in the bargain basket at the charity shop.....eg hand cream 20p, that sort of thing so just before Christmas she could have a 'special' bingo with different prizes. They loved it. Made a change for them.
Been sending bits of card making stuff to them ever since the lady who used to do it gave it up and the staff took over. They had said they couldn't always do it on a weekly basis as the stuff can be quite costly. I belong to a card making group on another site and some of them sent me bits and pieces they had no use for so I made up quite a package. Looks like I can do the same this time round looking at my box that just won't shut ! A lot of them in the home have had a stroke and aren't very able but my Mum, who was totally immobile, was happy enough to have picked out what she wanted (colours and shapes) and decide where she wanted it to go. She still felt she'd 'made' something herself. I'll sort through what I've got tomorrow........they'll love it with Easter coming up.
There is a hair salon within the building so thats all taken care of and someone visits every so often selling clothes but I'll check it out anyway. You never know till you ask do you. Books was another thing they were short of I know and I used to take some down when I visited if I found them cheap enough at boot fairs and in good condition, along with magazines.
Thanks for giving me a kick start :TMary

Ceridwen....being a nosy so and so, I've just had a quick look at your "sharks circling" post and it seems to be starting to degenerate into an unfortunate slanging match.
I know that people have some very strong opinions (myself included) but it really saddens me to see what should be a supportive network being dragged down sometimes when people start being abusive just because they can't agree to differ in a civilised manner.
Just wanted to send you some (((hugs)))
cheers

Well........I had to take this week off as I've got too much holiday and not enough time to take it.......and had a mass de-clutter of the whole house in mind. But I've struggled to get the motivation, plus a lurking family disagreement (which is upsetting me much more than I care to admit to anyone) seems to have held me back - does that sound strange? I managed to clear out the porch today, and make a minor start on the living room too. It's not that we live in a rubbish tip, but no doubt there's years of accumulated 'treasures' that need to be sorted through!
Tomorrow is another day though, and it's back to work on Monday - perhaps that will be the incentive I need!:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j

Sagaris - family upsets do grind you down..........I've never hit it off with my brother, even as kids, and when Mum was taken ill 4 years ago a lot of things were said that were best left unsaid but the damage was done and there was a fall out big time just when neither of us needed it.
I thought things had settled down and we don't see each other, just have contact by e mail or phone about Mum. He wouldn't let me do anything to help originally but in the end let me agree to share Power of Attorney and gave me all (and I mean all !) the paperwork to deal with. I don't mind that really I just felt it had been off loaded on me because it suited.
But things were a bit 'edgy' at Christmas and remarks were made about my kids that I found upsetting so we're back to square one and however much I try and tell myself that it doesn't really matter it still has an affect though not as bad as it did thankfully.
Take it out on having a good clear out of all the 'treasures' you've got.......if you can bear to part with them..................blessMary
