    Congrats MM!! :T

My simple pleasures, so many but one thing I really appreciate (and I always have done, not just since I got older) is to snuggle into a warm and comfy bed, and I often ponder on just how privileged I am to have that space and warmth and comfort. ;)

Yep - me too - 5' wide of sheer comfort - with loads of bedding to snuggle into.

    Other simple pleasures:
    - fresh air to take deep lungfuls of (how can you tell I dont live in the countryside?)

    - silence apart from natural sounds like birdsong (how can you tell.......)

    - a warm hug from a friend

    - nice music

    - a glass or two of decent-quality wine

One of the downsides of the decluttering is my guilt. I feel guilty for chucking good stuff away and I feel even more guilty for wasting money on the stuff in the first place.

    I know the feeling................

Aril......................sounds like you've been quite busy.......well busier than me though I did take some bits to the charity shop this morning (have to admit to bringing some back but they're for christmas/birthday baskets so that doesn't count - does it ?)
Charity bag will go on Friday so I might be able to see my carpet in here............lol:T

As for the simple things that please me..................thats really quite hard trying to think...............there are so many................birds singing, sitting round the wild life pond one of our ex foster boys did for us...........reading a good book, creating a card for someone (makes me think of that particular person all the more) and good friends.................(that includes my family)
Life wouldn't be much fun if we had no friends would it.:j

...very true. Its one of the virtues of MSE as far as I am concerned - ie that I seem to have made a group of "virtual" friends through it. I was only thinking today - "looks like I've added 2 more virtual friends".

When I first got the computer I'd never have believed in 'virtual' friends actually being like real friends but its amazing the help, support, fun and such like that you can gain from someone who you might never actually meet.
Friends are friends, virtual or otherwise and bless 'em all:j

    Well mary43

I guess the thing about virtual friends is that - through the medium of the Internet - there is the possibility of pretending to be anyone we want to be - and some people do just that. But I think we can spot them and see whether the "real" person is shining through or no.

The advantage of the Internet is that - at those times when we can spot that the "real" person IS shining through - then we arent prejudging by their jobs/money/appearance - any of the physical stuff. We are just seeing the soul/the inner centre of the person coming through. I have been very "struck" on reading all sorts of different posts on the different Boards on MSE how some people show up very clearly as very selfish/grabby/etc and others come up equally clearly as caring/thoughtful/humorous/etc.

So very true and you're right about spotting those who just 'pretend' - who'd have thought that would ever be possible -but it is.
I must admit to liking the idea that no-one can see if I'm having a bad hair day or just slung on the most slobbish of clothes............but then I go and tell the world...................lol
Yes - today has been bit of bad hair day and slinging on the first thing to hand - I usually refer to them as my 'in depression/fed up' outfit........to my ex foster girl - you can guarantee she'll call when I'm far from at my best.....lol

Hello virtual friends:j Diddly squat done in the way of decluttering done today but my boss has now joined freecycle and has successfully got rid of numerous jiffy bags, a scanner we no longer use and unopened cartridges for which we no longer have the printers so that all feels quite positive. We've also set up a scrap box for all the unwanted paper in the past few months so the students use that for their notes rather than paper out of the printer and then it all goes for recycling. We've also started switching the pcs off in the late afternoon when they're not in use and he tells me his leccy bill has dropped. Result one less cluttered environment and we can find things:j
I found this for you today which I hope you like.
You are a marvel. Each second we live is a new and unique moment of the universe, a moment that will never be again. And what do we teach our children? We teach them that two and two make four and that Paris is the capital of France. When will we also teach them what they are?
    We should say to them:
Do you know you are a marvel. You are unique. In all the years that have passed there has never been another child like you. Yes you are a marvel. Ane when you grow up can you then harm another who is, like you a marvel? You must work- we must all work- to make the world worthy of our children.
