Our garage is away from the house and far as I know there are several plant pots (various sizes), bits of two bikes -might make one good one out of the two -could put them on freecycle. Not sure what else apart from gardening tools (OHs dept.)..............bit on the chilly side to venture out there but when it warms up then maybe, just maybe we both might delve into the unknown...............................lol Till then........out of sight out of mind:jMary

Years ago I believed I would make my fortune by selling amber and silver jewellery. It was a failure and I sold my surplus stock to someone in Brighton. In my decluttering I have come across a few bits that escaped the big sell. Today I took them to my French lesson and said - help yourselves. There are only two students and a teacher, but I was surprised at the response.
You can sell it - where? - ebay as researched is not a good place to sell this stuff. The alternative is a charity shop and I'm a bit reluctant. In the end, my friend took some of it.
I think I will send the rest to my cousin in Australia. She and my Aunty came for a holiday in the UK this October. I really liked her and I think we would get on very well. However, I don't intend to go to Australia as I hate long haul flights.
One of the downsides of the decluttering is my guilt. I feel guilty for chucking good stuff away and I feel even more guilty for wasting money on the stuff in the first place.

Hi everyone!
I seem to have run out of a bit of oomph this last few days on the decluttering front as have been very busy at work and lots of other jobs at home needing my attention. However, I've now caught up with all the art/science bits that the small person turfed out of his room and they went to a couple of freecyclers. His old car seat is also going tomorrow as someone asked for one..didn't even have to offer that one on the forum:j I think I shall start working my way around the kitchen next...have already made a start but it's been a bit hit and miss as I've thought of things. The freezer is pretty much run down and will be cleaned on Sunday and the cupboards are ready for a spring clean before I do my big quarterly shop at Lidls and fill them up again later in the month:D
I've been watching my 9yo this evening and if left to their own devices/imagination I think there's a lot to be learned from children with regards to enjoying simple pleasures. He came roaring through very excited about the video of Timeteam he'd seen and the finds they'd made. Then he had a mad session playing with the cat [we call her Psycho cat and her mission in life is to offend every single dog in the neighbourhood by ambushing them and then chasing them simply for having the audacity to walk past our house on a lead]. He's just got back from Cubs dead proud because he's sewn on his first button and now he's listening to the free Horrible Histories CD he bought with his pocket money for 50p from the charity shop last weekend on the CD player he bought from the jumble sale he got also for 50p earlier this month. My simple pleasure tonight is to be reading through the new thrifty book I picked up from the library yesterday and having a glass of wine leftover from Sunday. What simple things bring you joy/enjoyment?
I leave you with this from Henry Thoreau, Walden which is on a similar theme:
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.
No doubt it won't be long before I pop up again:D

Poached eggs on toast on Saturday morning. Every week, again and again, I enjoy that so much - the combination of this particular food and the thought that the weekend has just started.......
Thanks for bringing up simple pleasures, Aril - I'm sure there will be lots more from others and it is such a good thing to remember!"Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0 -

Congrats MM!! :T
My simple pleasures, so many but one thing I really appreciate (and I always have done, not just since I got older) is to snuggle into a warm and comfy bed, and I often ponder on just how privileged I am to have that space and warmth and comfort.... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

I've seen on tele this morning a piece on making money selling on ebay. I've tried to sell on ebay in the past, but I've had no luck and I've been out of pocket. Is there a secret?
There was a young woman on this tele article who made about £400 a month! What sells and what doesn't?0
