Hmmm.....well can only speak for myself - years ago I had a pair of faded jeans that I got all my friends to sign - to remember them when I wore them. The jeans must have gone about the time I stopped living in the place concerned - and I recall the bedspread on my bed was one I had found in an airing cupboard that was left behind by a previous resident (a patchwork one that someone had obviously made and got their friends to sign) - so I guess they also felt "gone the place, gone the reminder". Just a shame about the pair of slippers a friend there had made for me going - in their case it was because they wore out.

Blairweech - difficult with things like that where at the time it probably meant a lot. I know I regret getting rid of my school books........just so I could show my kids what we did at school really. And when I was at school it was autograph books that we all signed.......what happened to them I really don't know.........must have had a clear out and chucked them away.
I'm trying really hard to work on the principle that it has to be really personal, useful or decorative for me to justive keeping an item...............not working very well at the minute but then my de-cluttering has come to a stand still while I plod on with christmas stuff.
