I made the mistake of posting on the Morgage Exit Fee thread
My first post ended up in the middle of a slanging match between several posters and was completely ignored.
Charis
I did receive an apologetic and more helpful reply this morning.
This Mortgage Exit Fee business is not straightforward. It is proving more difficult that I envisaged to find the actual amount I should pay. Apparently the fee was in a booklet that I should have been given at the time of taking out the mortgage. Hmm.0 -
I don't understand peoples' need to be unpleasant to each other. I've stuck my head into the "Arms" on a couple of occasions, but never felt inclined to post there, as I felt positively intimidated!
Maybe OS-ers have more common sense than some.
Mary if it's any consolation, some of my best friends are witches.....:rotfl:
I can't understand why people need to be unpleasant either.I'm a naturally happy enthusiastic person,I can't help it I refuse to let life get me down.I try to see the good in every situation.I often get smarmy remarks from people saying things like it's annoying/weird/threatening when someone's always happy.I always reply life's too short,to be honest it's their problem not mine.
I have a sister however who makes it her life's work picking faults and throwing nasty sarcastic comments at whoever she can whilst looking down her nose at them. She is a very unhappy person despite being financially well off.
As far as the "arms" is concerned don't feel intimidated your opinion is as important as anyone else.0 -
I think we all know people who no matter what you do or say will try and belittle us or look down their noses (I find it's my family more than anything) but ignoring them is sometimes easier said than done.
Luckily we are all lovely on this thread so (((((((((BIG HUGS))))))))) all round
Anyway my car failed it's MOT which I was not expecting, the garage said it would cost £300  but after nicely asking how much for cash they came down to £120 :j
so I should get my car back on Monday.
That foiled my camping plans for the weekend with my nice new 9 person tent reduced from £200 to £49 which I just had to have, until a lovely friend of mine offered to lend me their car so I can still go :j especially as the tickets for the event cost me nearly £80, shame I can't take the dogs this time, the event is on a working farm with roaming animals so they are not allowed, I'm sure they'll enjoy themselves in kennels.
My lovely tidy house has now become a bomb site with all the camping gear in the lounge ready for packing up tomorrow morning when I get the car. I'm soooo excited even if the weather is forecast as terrible for the next few days.
I think I've rambled on and totally lost the point of my post so I'll ramble off and find a closet to tidy
Have a great day everyone.I won't buy it if I can make or borrow it instead

Hello all....................I''m back ! Got back last night so spent most of today catching up with stuff.
Visit to dentist before I went was a bit of a waste of time...........he'd gone off sick ! So, with DIY dental fix-it in my bag I took the chance and went off to see Mum. She was awake and reasonable alert which is a change and it was a pleasure to see her, though hard work trying to keep a conversation going when she was rambling off into her own world. General idea of me being there was so that Big Bruv could go off and do a few things before returning to Spain...........not so.............he was there the whole time ! Day 1 - he was really quite pleasant...........Day 2 - not so pleasant and generally 'having a go' at anything and everything I do or have ever done........I should ignore it I know but its hard to bite your lip.............however I did.........simply saying 'It's my life let's leave it at that'. Day 3 - only briefly saw him and he was, shall we say, back to being reasonable again.
Purple sparkles -(I find it's my family more than anything) but ignoring them is sometimes easier said than done.)- you took the words out of my mouth.............Friends accept us as we are, warts and all............why on earth family can't do the same I'll never know.Mary

Well done Mary for not taking the bait! Relatives and ex partners are the only people you can't just walk away from without tearing a bit of yourself away in the process.
I still have problems with my Dad. I'll be pension age myself in two years but that doesn't stop him giving me 'advice'. I think he means well but it can be hurtful sometimes.
I have found it simpler just to agree with him, even when I don't.0 -
Well.....one advantage to friends - they look pleased when they see you and you get a good hug:D I could coin a new phrase "A hug a day keeps the doctor away" (if Hard Up Hester is reading this - "its just a hug I mean Hester:cool: ")0
-
ceridwen - and if friends look pleased to see you its because they genuinely are.............no pretence or anything like that. Makes a huge difference.
At least I was staying with good friends while I was at Mums so whatever Bib Bruv said it mattered not............I was staying with people who actually care about me and allow me to be myself.Mary

Hi all :hello:
Im still around not much sorting or simplfying at the mo - just getting bigger! good to see this thread is still thriving and friendly as ever!
just reading it started making me think I better start getting ready for christmas and getting pressies out the way - as baby is due in November so will be too busy to shop then!:j Where there is a will there is a way - there is a way and I will find it :j0 -
do it today - not much in the way of de-cluttering or much else going on here either.................lol But, I have been busy 'doing christmas'.......getting a little bit out of hand it is. Had it all sorted and was going to be literally wrapped up by now but then I pop over to Special Occassions board and see some fab ideas that I can 'create'.................result being loads of half done 'projects' around me that I just must get done otherwise they'll still be here come January.................oh well, if they are, early start for next year.............lol
Take it easyMary

Still working on the Simple Life theme - today I've chopped up loads of windfall apples and they are drying in my dehydrator, got 2 loaves of bread I've handmade rising and now summoning up the energy to do a load of washing by hand and then rinse it out in water from the waterbutt - and in between that writing out info for my Union Rep as work is playing "silly b....s" again (not for the first time - story of my life:rolleyes: ).
Hoping to find energy/willpower after that for hoovering and pedicure (I do do a bit of personal grooming once in a while - dont want to be too big a "scruffbag":D - though I'm no longer doing the hairdyeing and painting my nails - saving time/money and the environment).
At least my father's health has taken a turn for the better again - change of medication later.0
