I have just had a quick read through posts, hugs to everyone feeling poorly.
I was supposed to be at work today, but both me and ds2 are in bed poorly. I have been really tired for the last couple of days and also I have been having really bad aches and pains, now this morning, I have the most horrid headache and runny nose. The pain was that bad this morning, I had trouble lifting my head off the pillow! Managed to drag myself round house and put washing in, but now back in bed again!!
anyway, will pop back later xxxxxxxxxxxx'If you judge people, you have no time to love them'

Dishes are done and hob is cleaned so am pottering on here with a pot of tea next to the phone so if there is a call about the sale of my dad's flat I will not miss it! The sale should go through today but it has taken months.
Hugs to everyone feeling poorly."This site is addictive!"

Well, morning everyone......((((((((((HUGS))))))))))) if you need one!!!
The lunch was a great success, thank heavens!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hard work, but everyone enjoyed themselves. The Lord Mayor's visit lasted just over 45 minutes, his chauffeur winkled him out in time for me to serve at 12.30 prompt. I had a few words with the LM he came into the kitchen, said he thought OH and myself were staff, we looked too young to be residents, nice compliment..............
The whoe thing went with a swing, plenty of laughs, especially when I could not get the brandy to light to 'flame' the christmas pud.......the trifle and pudding was very well recieved, some of them had a bit of both.
It took us just over an hour to clear everything up, with help from another of the residents, got her a box of chocs this morning for her efforts.
The table looked really nice when I had finished it, even though I say it myself.
We will be eating turkey for a bit, there was almost half left, I have sliced it up, we aslo had quite a few brussels and carrots left. We will have a dinner off them tonight and I will freeze the rest, hopefully my veg for Christmas day, so all I will have to 'cook' is the roast beef, yorkies and spuds. By the way, I got a jar of goose fat from Tesco, the spuds were scrummy....have quite a bit left, so roast spuds for a bit yet.
This morning we braved the fog and got the bus to Tesco, I was going to go tomorrow but we have a funeral in the morning and by DS is coming after lunch, so that b******d that.
Saturday we have to collect 15 books from the library and take the kitchen waste to the lottie, then I can shut myself in until the day after boxing day.
Have not read the thread, hope evryone is ok...........see,y'all later.......Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Good afternoon everyone. Well, wm on again (3rd time today) and I have just sorted out another 4 loads!!! If any one has any advice on how to train kids, please share it with me-every time they tidy their bedrooms a mountain of washing appears-as if by magic!!! and this is the effect it's having on me
and  and  and :wall: so I'm not a very happy bunny. I have loads of wash powder etc, I am trying to be msos but I have no where to dry so much washing-don't want it hung around for days but don't really want to use td much either, as it isn't money saving & everyone complains that I shrink the clothes!!!
any way rant over, back to the washing!!!GE 36 *MFD may 2043

Afternoon all!
Well all bedding washed and dried AGAIN! Both the sick ones are asleep and iv managed to blizt most of the wrapping up so thats one huge job out of the way.
Done a basket of ironing and aimming to finish the last bit after i finish my coffee break, iv even ironed enough uniforms for the first week back at new year so i dont have to worry about them over xmas.
Still have food shopping to do, but that will have to be done saturday now with the kids being ill all week, but what isnt done sunday night wont be getting done as we plan (if all the kids are well) to go on a long winters walk at the local resevoure(sp?) on xmas eve with a flask of mulled wine and mince pies.
Hope your all having a good day off to hide all traces of wrapping up as ds1 will be home from school soon after his chippy lunch!!
Take care Donna

Woo hoo! Afternoon all
Last but one day of work for me, and then off to Devon for a week starting SaturdayNot done any packing yet (which is really unusual for me...I've usually got the suitcases packed at least a week before we go
) Written a list though, so will do it tonight (or make a start at least!) Got to get the spicy red cabbage on the go tonight so that it's sufficiently cooked to take down with us on Saturday. Must write myself a note to make sure I remember to take it, plus the brandy butter in the fridge, the homemade Christmas pudding in the cupboard, and the sprouts (on stalks) hidden in the dark in the shed
Yes I know they have sprouts in Devon
it's just I like to buy the ones on stalks for Christmas and last year all our local supermarkets sold out before I got there
Sometime today I need to finish the two photobooks I'm making to give as presents, nearly done so shouldn't take too long. Suppose I had better get on with it really

The centre run by the Salvation Army on Chequer Road, was very delighted to be offered the snooker table, and will also take a box of single bedding (no single bed now) a coffee maker, two stereos. They provide flats for young people most of which who are homeless and have nothing so anything to make them comfortable is welcome, and anything else they pass on to other organisations.Member #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Tattycath
Daughters used to do this.
Got fed up of seeing the clean washing in amongst the dirty pile, chucked out onto the landing. So I "sniffed" and folded rather than washed the tried on and discarded. Underwear got washed, but not all the jumpers/skirts/jeans.
Didn't stop them doing it the following week, but at least the washing and drying got less. Sometimes even put the discarded (but clean) jeans onto the radiators as if washed.
No idea if they noticed. They didn't actually complain.0 -
Hi all. Just popping back on before I have some lunch.
Good Luck to Nicola and (((hugs))) to all those who are ill and stressed and bon voyage to all who are going away for the duration.
I managed to get loads of chores done this morning and then thought I'd go to the shops before I visit the gym but, as I left the butcher's I suddenly didn't feel very well. My cough won't go away, my eyes and nose are streaming and I have to walk up the stairs when normally I take them two at a time. That's how I know I'm not feeling 100%. As I have only recently had a cold I am really praying that this is just a bad day and doesn't linger all over Christmas. I must do some more wrapping up this afternoon but my energy and motivation have dipped. I'm going to have some toast, I think - hopefully it will restore some energy.
Oh, well - better go and have some lunch. See you later.
