O.S Daily thread Thurs 20/12/07

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 20/12/07. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning Everyone

  • Morning all

It's freezing here! Got up at 5 as I'm not sure my car is going to start this morning and I might have to cycle in. As I'm not used to doing it, it'll take me a least 20 minutes. Don't really fancy it as it's along dark roads.

PENPIN hope things go well for you. All my patients get a Xmas dinner and sherry. Don't know if all hospitals do though.

Well turned up to work yesterday and yes we were short-staffed. How I'm supposed to look after people properly is beyond me. Anyhow, I had good people working with me so I managed to get out on time and enjoyed my blackberry vodka when I got home:D . No wonder so many members of the medical profession have a drink problem! We're short-staffed again this morning as well, I just hope no major catastrophes happen.

Dinner tonight is spag bog. Need to write my cards for work and deliver my local ones by hand later.

Have a good day everyone:A xxxx

    Morning everyone

Jannyannie - hope your car starts and you don't have to cycle to wo*k....and that it starts again for the journey home of course!

Ageandjo, think I'd tackle that list in the order it's written, leave the scrubbing and ironing for another day...

Pam, good luck with the decos, hope you are pleased with the sofa.

Today is just another "go to wo*k, go home" sort of day, nothing out of the ordinary planned at all for me.

    Have a fab day all.

Hhhmmmmmmm, my advent calendar definitely only has 12 designs, I've got another Christmas tree :D

Not sure what I'm up to today, other than visiting mr tru's grandad. I love him to bits, he's 96 and he giggles all the time. He'll give us tea that's far too milky, and after half an hour of us yelling at him he'll say 'I'll just turn my hearing aid on' :rotfl:

I need to clean out the girly pigs and hoover, there's some ironing too but I've hidden it in my wardrobe - if I can't actually see it, it's not there, right? :D

    Morning everyone.
Well my weeks getting no better..what a surprise!!LOL... dd still not right, she is slightly better and has only been ill once in the night but ds2 has decided to join her on the sick bay!!!!! So tiday i have 2 kids at home and ds1 finishes school for xmas hoildays at lunch time!!

So both dd and ds2 are missing their xmas partys at school which im sad about as they go to alot of trouble at their schools to make them special..full disco, santa visits, masive spread ect.. but it cant be helped and like iv told the kids it is only 5 more sleeps until Santa arrives and they need to be well for that more than school partys.!!!!!

So todays plans apart from playing nurses is get my friend to take ds3 to school, send ds1 off with some money for the chippy him and his mate going when they break up at dinner (is this what kids do now they are at secondary, have their own xmas `do` at the chippy???).
If i get chance wrap some more presents whilst the `sickies` watch tv.
I couldnt go out today anyway as dh new tv ment to be deliveried at some point, and if it does i will be out of the way later whilst he sets it up as when ever we buy new electrical goods things ALWAYS go wrong, the fact he wont read the instructions and just try to do it has something to do with it!!!

Right off to get dh and ds3 pack up sorted have a great day, and hope you all are not panicing to much, i know i will be come fri night when dh breaks up for 2 weeks as ill have to rush around doing all the things iv not been able to this week!!
    Take care

    morning all,

Very cold here again, OH got up to phone work to tell them that he is not going in, he feels rough and had a coughing fit, he now feels like he has pulled something in his tummy, , so has gone back to bed.

Going to get DD up in a moment, just enjoying the peace for a while first.
Got ho sin wraps ? for tea, never had them before, so that will be a nice change.

Off to work today, mind you I spent my work day yesterday delivering presents for the firm I work for, so it was easy.

I think Ive 'done' christmas now, although I woke up in the early hours thinking 'napkins, and satsumers) (sp).

Tru, enjoy time with grandad :D

Amie, hope you feel better later

    very frosty outside.
hoping to have a busy day and get everything sorted....whether that happens or not will be another matter.

interesting about somerfields fresh crowns, might pop in. last year when the rest of the world were queuing to get in to asda's carpark, I nipped into a deserted somerfield! our somerfield is a little store and I suppose everyone headed to the bigger supermarkets for the big shop.

Morning all and massive (((hugs))) to all poorly ones. Freezing cold here, as well. I won't venture out until it's thawed a bit. Everything is iced over. Had a bad night coughing - I still get it now and again even though my cold went weeks ago. I ended up on the sofa because DH has to get up early and I didn't want him to have a disturbed night. I couldn't sleep in the spare room because the bed is covered with Christmas presents. I kept waking up all through the night but I don't think it was all down to the cough - my brain just buzzes all the time these days.

We did manage to get to PC World to pick up a gaming chair for DS2 - it's a huge box so I had to wait until we could go in DH's 4x4. I've covered the box with a sheet - it's too big to hide or wrap; I've kept it in the hall and will have to put some sort of Christmas arrangement on it so DS2 thinks it's furniture! He'll probably call in over the weekend so it needs to be kept well hidden. Still, now that we have bought that, I have finished my present shopping, yay!! I managed to get loads wrapped up yesterday but there seems to be the same amount to be wrapped up today.

I want to visit the gym if there's time, I have loads of phone calls to make and some baking. DH has been taking mince pies with his packed lunch because I haven't had time to make cakes - I think he's getting fed up with them now. We have spag bol for dinner - I need to think of some mindless no-thinking meals until Christmas. I also must clean my oven and give the kitchen a wipe down.

I complained by email to PC World about the fact that they don't deliver and that the gaming chair was £15 dearer on their website. They have replied apologising but not promising to make any changes! I also emailed Argos (I must have been in a bad mood that day!), about the fact that they make you go all through the rigmarole of placing an online order then, at the very last minute, they tell you the item is 'out of stock' and that I didn't appreciate my time being wasted! They have also apologised and promised to change the way they work. So, one result out of two - not bad!

MRSMIX - I hope your sofa turns up today. I also hope you haven't got a cold coming - that will be the last thing you want.

Well, off to make another list - my kitchen table is covered with them!

Hope everyone has a good day and doesn't get too cold.

    See you all later.

DLB - my DH is just the same and will not follow instruction manuals. I'm sure he does it on purpose because it's so much easier to get me to operate anything new!
