Unfortunately, it doesn't matter to him, he's highly functioning. A classic case of needing a drinking buddy to justify his drinking and not letting me stop (e.g. ignoring my request tonight not to get me anything) as not to admit at least I see it as a problem. My words of refusal don't matter, I just need to find/have the strength to not drink it. Sorry, if I'm hijacking this financial thread for this tonight but it's a big help tonight. Will take myself off to bed in a minute.f0xh0les said:'It is a school night', is always a good excuse not to. Unless you are a teacher.

Evening turtles
Spend day today as had to buy car tax (at £20 more than was on my reminder as its gone up in the budget!) But no other spends. Finalised May's budget on my spreadsheet as got my pay from second job.
Turns out we need a new front door altogether after the carpenter visited and saw the risk assessment that had been done, which is more expense but has to be done.7 -

thrifylass, you've not hijacked the thread at all. Turtles are there for each other in every aspect of life! Hugs XToday I am grateful for sorting out some scheduling at work, for sunshine, for dc enjoying tonight's youth group, for gluten free tiger bread, for all the greenery.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!8

Hello lovely turtles,
Sorry for my absence this month. April has been so busy and expensive so I'm looking forward to a calmer May and being a better turtle.
Just caught up on all your posts. Sending hugs your way @thirftylass - it's tricky to offer advice because we all have different personalities and relationships. I am a believer in the idea that money is an emotional matter rather than a purely mathematical thing. Would your DH perhaps join you in watching/listening to a Dave Ramsey video on Ytube for example?

@thriftylass- hugs, so many similarities to my ex, stay strong and do what is best for you.
Checking in with NSD 13, and my bank account looks relatively healthy with pay day fast approaching!
It's SO cold, I've increased the hours the heating is on again 🥶🥶🥶 not very MSE but I refuse to be THAT cold in April.
Grateful today that I am in a position to turn the heating back on (a few years ago I would have layered up and gone to bed as turning the heating up was a no-no!), an hour playing games with DD before she went to bed and snacks!

We've had snow showers all day! None of it settled though, as the ground is too wet from all the rain we've been having.
NSD#5 (not doing very well this month but mostly little spends!)
Work was a bit tricky this morning, but I had my review with the head teacher this afternoon & she told me that everything I do is amazing! Lots of positive feedback, so made my day. A pupil told me at lunchtime that I do make people laugh, so that was nice.
Listed a couple of things on the bay of E, & ticked a few other things off my to-do list. My brother phoned, then after tea I went for a walk with DH & dropped some sewing off en route.
A customer from last week messaged me to say the 4 pairs of trousers I'd shortened for her last week we're still too long. I shortened them the amount she'd requested! Normally I'd say to return them & I'd shorten some more, for free, but a colleague & DH both said if she wants them doing more, she should be charged for it, as it was her mistake, not mine. Felt a bit bad telling her there will be further charges, but pleased afterwards that I'd done it! The perils of self employment!!
Replaced a coat zip, then soaked in the bath. Put on a facemask & read 2 chapters of my book too. A nice end to the day.
Grateful for a good review, folk advising me re: customer, seeing a hare on my way to work & @12 oystercatchers in afield, plus the rabbits on our walk 😃Use it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

Good morning, poured it down the sink this morning as there is no point keeping it and told him to take me serious next time.

I totally agree, and it sounds like you are doing what you can under the circumstances @thriftylassf0xh0les said:Hugs @thriftylass 🫂 you can control your behaviour, not his. Take yourself out of the way of temptation.
I am on NSD 8 I think....yesterday was productive, ran 5k in the gym and ate well. However I really need to get cracking with eating some pretty ugly frogs that I have been putting off. Grateful for being paid today, for it being hump day, for nourishing food.
May should be live later on....
