I'm hoping it is possible to downgrade your account, get rid of current benefit "rakuten trash" then Upgrade to club Lloyds again for the new Disney+ benefit.

I have read the terms and conditions and don't see anything that says you can't. Closest thing I could see was you can only have one lifestyle benefit per account for 12 months. So perhaps downgrading then upgrading is basically the same account so it's a no
Please carry on, I'd love this to be do-able. My concern is the Club Lloyds Monthly Saver that is linked, don't want this account downgraded as interest rate is highly competitive.
I've downgraded/upgraded in rapid succession in the past without any issue.

Your CL monthly saver will be unaffected - the only requirement is to hold a qualifying CL account at the time of opening the saver, not for the duration you hold the saver. As for the monthly benefits, I recall that when I downgraded my existing rewards were voided and then when I re-upgraded I was asked to select them again. They then ran for 12 months from the re-upgrade date. I suspect they might catch on if you do it repeatedly, but doubt they'd care too much for a one-off.

Do you happen to recall how long you remained at "Classic" before upgrading to "Club" to reinstate the benefits?

I've down-shifted today so I'm thinking that the reward will be voided asap and my (rubbish) reward for May won't be issued.

Leave it for a couple of weeks then upgrade?
It was a week or two from memory, but that was only because I was juggling a switch incentive at the time which required me to open a brand new club account. Might be worthwhile perhaps to wait for your next monthly reward cycle? I used to go for the cinema tickets, which they give you all up front.
Thanks for that. Yep, leaving it for a reward cycle would tie in nicely with my current Disney+ sub expiring.

Just tried my clublloyds.com login - it's gone, as expected.
  • I just signed up for this account for the free Disney+. Says I will be able to access it in a months time.

I am already on a year long Disney+ Sub but I went onto their online chat and they said that I can have a pro-rata refund of the unused months credited back to my card, so I will do that once I can access the Lloyds Route

That's good of Uncle Walt. Don't think he'll be quite as forthcoming with my 6 week's-worth of Tesco voucher still to run.

So instead of paying £79 pa for Disney (which I don't currently), I can open a Club Lloyds, pay 2k into it for one day and get it for free? Seems too good to be true surely.

Sort of but not quite. The account would need to be open throughout the whole year, and you won’t be able to downgrade the account otherwise the Disney + benefit would be cancelled. And you’d need to pay in at least £2k per month to keep it completely free (the money doesn’t have to stay in the account). If you don’t you’ll be charged the £3 club Lloyds fee per month, still cheaper than a years Disney subscription, but if you can do the required pay in to avoid the fee you might as well.

Yep, you can either pay £3/month in to cover the Club Lloyds fee or you can cycle £2k in and out (not necessarily in one go) each month and you'll get it for nowt.

    Good deal.

Disney+ is now available as an option on the lifestyle benefit portal - I opened my CL account less than a month ago

  • I didn't receive a Rakuten code for April and not received today, 1st of May. They usually arrive automatically on the 1st of the month. I have contacted CL enquires about this and suggest they move me to the Disney + which is a far better option than the terrible "Ratuken". I expect they will turn my request down and I may then go down the degrade-upgrade account route some have mentioned on this thread..

I can't remember if I received codes in the last few months, gave up even checking the Rakuten site for something worth watching - even for free.

Just trying to work out the optimum timing to upgrade back to Club so that the new Disney+ benefit will kick in exactly when my Tesco-derived sub expires on 30 June.

Yes the Ratuken film selection is dire. I tend to only look for something on that site at the end of the expiry period. There have been a couple of codes I've not used. Strange that the latest two codes have not been received, though. I'm looking into degrading and upgrading again if customer support won't change my option.
