Yeah I know, the point is that it's not what they had promised (and some including myself had chosen to opt out based on being able to opt in from April 1st).

Thanks for the heads up on this. My renewal is due 31st May! The number of Rakuten codes I let go to waste because the Rakuten library was naff...0

I would be too.Mistakes are made and someone at Lloyds got it wrong with that. Probably some 12 years old P.R. person!1 -

Probably some 12 years old P.R. person!I agree, I'm not going to walk over it, but I do expect that when a bank makes mistakes which affect me they suitably put me back where I would have been. A month of Disney+ is £8, so I'm seeking a tenner.I resent being told reportedly there was no mistake when it's clear in black and white that there had been one. They seemed to contend they can say whatever they like in PRs and I can't take any promises stated within them as such.0 -
Had a call from a much nicer member of the complaints team today. He immediately apologised and said he can't activate the reward sooner than May 1st but instead offered me £40.The matter is now closed to my satisfaction but I would encourage anybody else similarly affected to complain.1

Not sure what do other people find dreadful about Rakuten, but for me it was the fact that it's unable to play movies on Linux... what the heck? I watched one movie on my phone, which was a pain in the neck. Since then they keep sending me monthly movie codes and I never use them. Fortunately, I feel like I'm not missing out since all the 'political activism' in many new movies is kinda off-putting anyway.

I have read the terms and conditions and don't see anything that says you can't. Closest thing I could see was you can only have one lifestyle benefit per account for 12 months. So perhaps downgrading then upgrading is basically the same account so it's a no
Your CL monthly saver will be unaffected - the only requirement is to hold a qualifying CL account at the time of opening the saver, not for the duration you hold the saver. As for the monthly benefits, I recall that when I downgraded my existing rewards were voided and then when I re-upgraded I was asked to select them again. They then ran for 12 months from the re-upgrade date. I suspect they might catch on if you do it repeatedly, but doubt they'd care too much for a one-off.
I've down-shifted today so I'm thinking that the reward will be voided asap and my (rubbish) reward for May won't be issued.
Leave it for a couple of weeks then upgrade?0 -
