You may be in luck - the updated image of the Premier debit card on the Barclays website doesn’t have any writing on the front of it :

Lloyds have now sent me a new Club Lloyds debit card. This may sound a tad odd but has anyone else found that the new Club Lloyds debit cards smell like static electricity with a hint of burnt things or is this proof that I have finally gone mad?

Why have they done that...didn't they close your accounts yesterday?

I'm slightly baffled. I switched out my old Club Lloyds account just over a week ago, so I upgraded my remaining classic account to Club Lloyds on the off chance they'd close the Club Lloyds monthly saver due to my not having a Club Lloyds current account. I wanted to ensure I got an extra few days interest on the Club Lloyds monthly saver. They've now sent me a new debit card, which is kind of them I suppose, but entirely unnecessary.

    EDIT:
In answer to your second point I had made a miscalculation of one day when I created that thread. LBG are closing my accounts today, rather than 18th May.

All the cards now seem to be very much the same, and the platinum doesn't really look... platinum. Just a slightly different colour of green, unless you're a private banking customer.
  • I have still received no club lloyds card months after upgrading as a new customer.

I've found it's a bit hit and miss with LBG and new debit cards. When I upgraded my first Lloyds account to Club Lloyds last spring (4-5 months after opening), they never sent me a new card. When I upgraded the Lloyds classic account I opened in January this year into a Club Lloyds account (earlier this month) they decided to send me a new one.

Halifax did a similar thing. when they converted my old expresscash account into a current account I got a new card. When I upgraded the same account to a reward account nearly a year later they didn't bother.
