This week looks to be back to normal after the next 24 hours, so energy usage will then be low for me - I’d been using my oil filled radiator on a smart socket whilst electric was so cheap but back to gas this week if the house needs a boost2 -

We went wild yesterday and spent a whole 3p on gas. Saturday was 1p, Friday 2pJust looked at my estimated bill for April, so far all up leccy and gas inc SC is minus £5.35. Compares well with last year's total bill for April of £193-ish

Prior to Ukraine I was paying £40 a month DD which would build up a surplus for the winter gas usage (on BG fixed with low S/C), during the crazy price rises I managed to stay on £40 but no surplus but eked out the govn freebie over two years to end up with a surplus of £13 when I recently switched to Octopus (and avoided the crazy rise in April's s/c by locking into Agile for a year), so looks like I will be well under £40 a month (on variable DD) plus the £50 freebie for switching, so will be able to turn the gas back on in December, albeit for an hour or two a day (luckily have a very efficient combi boiler and well insulated detached residence). I am currently on about one kw a day electric usage and turn everything off between 4-7pm but do have a couple of infra red heaters that I can turn on when negative pricing happens and actually did 20kw's on Saturday, giving me nearly a quid profit for the week. Does make it difficult to justify adding some solar to my south facing roof, though, other than as an off-grid backup if we start having black-outs.0

Not sure how we're going to fare over the next 3 weeks as the batteries aren't charging at the moment, and the installer can't get an electrician to visit until 7th May. Looking at having to pay the high tariff rates in the 4-7 hours when usually we'd be cruising through on battery power. Hopefully we'll get some sunny evenings to help our slightly west of south facing panels. Taking advantage of cheap/negative rates overnight for the immersion heater which is currently replacing gas when the leccy prices are low enough. Will have to work out how to programme the dishwasher for overnight usage also.

So my daily average spend on electricity so far for April is 59 pence - given that the Standing Charge is 52 pence a day I'm pretty pleased with that. I've also managed to use 225KwH of electricity as opposed to an average month's 4KwH per day. Looks like today is back to earth with a bump, but still likely to balance out at a saving on SVT.Debt Free Wannabe by 1 December 2027

Well done to you.
Out of interest, what did they predict your projected annual cost to be? They made mine £190, which suggests their algorithm is broken.0
