  • @Pulpdiction, still not sure where the 30kWh goes daily :)

2 users similar to you use above 7kWh a day (you are using 4x as much). I don't have gas at our small 3 bed house, in the last 30 days we used 520kWh (includes heating, hot water) 17.31kWh per day.. - so hence my surprise that you clock 30kWh.. anyway

Total cost for 520kWh £61, averaging 9.63p per kWh. (It would have been £100 on Tracker and £160 on Flexible tariff).

Agile is very easy going, give it a go, and if it doesn't work for you you can always move to Tracker - flat rate across the date, or standard rate.
5 bedroom house, teenagers, underfloor electric heating in the bathroom and no one ever turns anything off. Most evenings I've got 3 TVs and 2 xboxes as well as PCs on the go, so it soon adds up.  Usage is what it is, I could tweak it down, but I will be getting an electric car, I do have a battery, only 8.2kw, so maybe not big enough but I could expand that, just looking to see what my best cost option is and people seem to be averaging less than SVR so that would be upside for me.

I have begun to use Oct Compare to help decide if and when to move from Tracker to Agile. It happens frequently that the comparison fails due to lack of consumption data. Like several evenings in a row. This evening 12th April it was saying that the data for 10th April was missing. Is this what other users have been experiencing??
In current circs I suppose the comparison should be [Tracker Dec 23] with Agile April 2024. It looks like the system takes SC's into account when calculating the totals.
I switched about six weeks ago and Compare has always worked ok and faster at showing upcoming rates than the Octopus App .It also shows the standing charge in the daily, weekly, monthly totals . Its now my most used app on my phone
Personally I think its better to move from Tracker  to Agile earlier in the year around late Feb so when the dark nights come , at end of October the 9 month Tracker ban is over and I can return to Tracker for most of the winter .

I would find missing the 4pm to 7 pm peak harder when its cold and dark, and I m more likely to want to stay indoors, whereas its easier to get out in the lighter warmer evenings to miss the three peak hours.
Everyone on Tracker should have a go on Agile if they are single household ,  if only for the fun factor ..Who does nt like free electric ? theres a few hours this afternoon which I will be making good use of .

I'm in the dilemma now that although there's negative pricing, my batteries are full and I'm exporting at 15p/kWh, so I can't see any way to gain anything more from the negative pricing this afternoon.  I exported last night before midnight, topped up on the cheap rates before 5am and have been exporting since 9am.  When we had the cheap daytime rates in March it was cloudy so I was able to charge the batteries at negative rates then.

Some very nice rates tomorrow afternoon, I think I shall bake a cake with a nice long preheat on the oven to celebrate!

Come to think of it preheating the entire house might be a better idea…

Why is tracker cheaper in winter? Is it because of more peak period usage or because of the way the rates change?

6 hours of negative pricing tomorrow and I have no more clothes left to wash. Think I'll have to have all the windows open so I can have the oven and heaters on full blast.  Shame no-one I know has an EV - although getting it up to a first floor flat may be a slight issue.
