hi, hoping for a bit of help here as there seems to be an overwhelming amount of information and I have a specific scenario. So I have solar and am receiving FIT payment of about 7p per khw exported, also have a giv energy battery and looking to get an EV, but this could be a few months away. Have a gas boiler and although it is less than 10 years old and efficient my house is high use. Wife and I work from home and we use all of the electricity we generate apart from in the June, July, August, September period, but our bills have been very high in winter.
I know that's not a lot of information, but just looking for some experience from existing users, am I likely to make significant savings by moving to Agile? I presume I just keep the deemed export as I get paid for 50% of what I generate and that is over 3k kwhs per year (3.5kw system). Really not happy on my EON next tariff and need to move to something else, hoping that Agile might be the answer. We do all of our cooking with electric and so would be consuming between 5 and 7 most days, but the amount varies and we do tend to do a lot of cooking after 7.
Hot water is gas as is heating.
Any advice appreciated.0 -
You could get 15p export if you change the deemed export to a SEG. You'll still keep the main FiT payment. Agile certainly suits people who are prepared to avoid the evening peak period.0

Will you make significant savings with Agile - no.
Based on what you wrote, it doesn't look like you use much electricity at all.
Gas for heating, no EV, no electric showers/immersion heater.. and cooking that often lands 4-7pm.
Solar panels.

30kWh a day? What do you use it for?0

We both work from home, have kids who are online gaming a few hours a day, laptops and xboxes going, washing, tumble drier, all modern appliances, but they can use electric. Sometimes I ask myself the same thing. Also certain members of the household seem to ignore the rule that if the sun is shining it's ok to use something if not then prob not the best time to put the dishwasher on.0

Agile is a tariff where what you get out of it depends very much on what you’re willing/able to put in, which makes it very difficult for anyone to suggest if it would be right for your household.
If you’re someone who can/will take an active role in regularly checking prices and maximising energy shifting to the cheapest periods, you will quite certainly see savings over almost any other tariff out there.Likewise if you give it less effort and just generally avoid the peak 4-7 period there’s probably a good chance of some savings still, but not to the same degree as someone optimising their consumption down to the half hourly level. This would be very specific to your own usage patterns though and you’d have to compare your half hourly meter data to typical Agile prices to decide if it’s worthwhile for you.
If you feel shifting your usage and price monitoring isn’t for you, then you’re not likely to save with Agile (unless by pure coincidence of the cheap periods aligning with your consumption). If you like the wholesale market tracking aspect of the tariff but don’t want the timed usage part, then Tracker may be more suitable where prices are set per day instead of every half hour.Moo…1 -
silverwhistle said:I changed from Intelligent O last week and on that was averaging around 15p last time I had a bill, so will be interested in my Agile bill. Certainly some good prices to take advantage of this week. Topped up the car this afternoon at 0.88p and did around 55 miles tonight. Cheap prices tonight but might wait to top up again tomorrow night as 22.30 is even less at 0.22p although don't know what follows yet. Handy when my normal train is too risky post strike and at a lot less than a penny a mile in fuel (!) cheaper, and quicker too.0

I my overall March rate for 235 kWh, was 12.55p kWh. Not really changed much time of use since move over to Agile in Feb, as I did not use much between 4 and 7 before Agile.
12.55p for very little effort and much cheaper than Tracker. Quids in.

That's really useful, would be half the cost of the tariff I am on, so very much of interest. Thanks0
