The strange thing is they've been burning coal, all night, and still are. I suppose they are using up the remains of their permitted operating hours before the final plant shuts down in September. Still seems an odd time to do it, as the bid prices must be extremely low.

It's nuclear you can't turn on and off frequently, without deleterious effects on the reactor.

There's been no coal burned this past week, that I've noticed, and gas was down below 1GW, the lowest I've ever seen it on Thursday or Friday. It seems very odd to fire up coal, at a weekend when prices are normally low anyway, and particularly when there's a big storm event. On the other hand, wind isn't as high as you might expect, given the conditions, but I suppose some may be, at least partially, constrained on safety/engineering grounds.

Ended up with being paid 1p yesterday after taking the standing charge into consideration and used 43.13kwh. Bargain

I ended up with a profit of 24p after standing charges so more than happy with that - just a bit scary when you see how much it would have cost on SVT ...

Yes, I made a 40p profit (yesterday) on both elec and gas - inc SC.  Cost of SVT was £20.94 (inc SC) for the same amount of kWh.

Yesterday our electric was 26p, gas 79p and export £1.95 so we ended the day 89p up. Did several washes and a use of the tumble drier, but we were out for much of the day so couldn't take complete advantage of it.  Have been importing and exporting today through several cycles, will be interesting to see how we end up.

For me personally savings compared with Tracker are more interesting than with standard variable. I could imagine that present conditions favour Agile. The question is how much of a change in prices there has to be before the relationship flips over?

I think that depends more on the user than the specific prices. If you can avoid the afternoon peak period, Agile will generally be better. If you can't, then Tracker will generally be best.
