I think the frozen standing charge gives a small reason for people to stop switching tracker for winter, Agile for summer etc.0

as longer daylight aproaching and more solar powering the electric network, will this bring the price down on agile over the spring/summer, i'm asking as im on tracker old rate fixed till nov24, im a light user aprox 4kw per day and can shift little washing i do to during the night and no cooking between 4-7
am i better off staying on old tracker or shifting0 -

Give it a trial by shifting for a week as it you were on Agile and see the results in the Octopus compare app?

With minimal shifting and effort we are averaging below 13p kWh since our switch on 15th Feb.
Happy with that considering the heat pump runs 21 hours a day(not during the 4-7pm period now) but we do use the hob, oven, microwave and air fryer during peak times for reference.
Agile isn't for everyone and we can make the most of it working from home and not being older and stuck in our ways.0 -
I did some closer analysis of Agile yesterday evening with the help of the incredibly useful Octopus Compare app that I’d only recently downloaded, as well as looking at some other historical Agile data from various other sources.
Decided it would be worth making the switch from my fix with 6 months remaining after all, especially with the way standing charges have been going (as a low user I don’t fancy my chances betting on them coming down by September). Even with a higher than usual peak load for DFS sessions and no off-peak load shifting Agile was still beating the fix by a not insignificant margin.
I also compared my actual consumption against some of, for my usage, Agile’s worst days in 2023 and found when looking at the day on the whole they were still either roughly on par with or better than current rates anyway. Plus any cheap/negative pricing slots over a full year would easily make up the difference.
Have to say I’m extremely happy with Octopus for how easy they make it to access the data needed to make these kinds of comparisons. Between Octopus and a couple of 3rd party tools/websites it was no trouble at all to see that the savings from Agile would be far more than I’d previously estimated.
The £75 exit fee hurts just a little, but in my mind it’s a worthwhile cost to know that the safety net of the fix was there if things had gone differently and the price cap went back on the rise again - I imagine Agile will in fact save me in excess of £12.50/month for the 6 months remainder of the fixed term anyway.
Now my only problem is making sure I don’t start obsessing over the day ahead prices!Moo…1 -
We have been with Octopus virtually from the word go, originally on the standard tariff, Go when we purchased a PHEV vehicle, as we have solar panels and a battery when Flux was introduced, in November we changed to Agile for us it has been the best tariff.12 x 370 Watt J A panels Solis 3.6 invertor. Solax AC invertor and 5.8 triple battery1
